I agree in s2/s3 the manual shifts are unnecessarily "hard". I typically run mine in s2/auto on the street and am happy with that. I keep dsc/mdm off in dry weather.

The shifts at not "unnecessarily" hard, there is performance benefit to those hard shifts. Read the thread the answer is there .

That being said, if you prefer smooth shifts and don't care for the performance gain in a given driving context, S1/D1/D2 are there for you .

When comparing full bore shifts between PDK and MDCT, the sensation from the drivers seat with PDK is one of being pushed forward into the gear while with MDCT it's one of being knocked back into the gear. (that might not make any sense but it's my description)

The PDK shift feels more elastic the MDCT shift feels sharper.

Is this with DSC fully off?

IMO, the “jerkiness” issue lies with the DSC/MDM programming, not the DCT.
