VPC or dealer prep should include lubing the door seals.

F8x ≠ Lexus

Different priorities, as suggested above. Very stiff chassis, reduced sound insulation and other weight saving/performance aspects.

That said, all of the squeaks and rattles that have come to light so far are trivial to fix.

Went to dealer again today. They applied lube again and noted in the paperwork that it is normal. WTF!

After this experience I now appreciate BMWs.
I drove one too and what drove me nuts was the driver's door actually flexes as you pull it shut!
Not cool on a $100K+ car.

I had a E92 from 2007 which was perfect with no noise. But my perfectly new F82 M4 has rattles (I think) from the dash!!!! It only happens on certain road surface which generates a frequency that cause the rattles. I am not even sure if I should take it back to the dealer as i am sure they won't find the cause. I can probably live with it but it's really annoying nonetheless!!!

My rattle is turning out to be a huge problem the dealer can't fix and wants to keep the car till they have a fix. They have the whole underside of the car apart right now.

I posted the full story in my thread called rattle under hard acceleration.

I just picked up my M4 in Germany, and noticed it rattled a little right off the bat! I hope my dealer does not lube me up and tell me it's normal as well.

Ive been to the dealer over a dozen times to have them apply the lube crap. It fixes it for a few days.

The day I left my F10 M5 at the dealers and drove away in my new F80 M3 was dissapointing due to the road noise and rattles. Road noise I can deal with as the M5 was VERY quiet so not a fair comparison really.

I have found the loud rattles were getting worse so I used silicon cleaning wipes/ alcohol wipes (painters and decorators type) and cleaned all of the door seals and the door shuts and then applied a non silicone rubber treatment (same as gummi pfledge) to all of the seals including the top felt seals.

Car was instantly about 90% rattle free, I couldnt actually believe the difference it made.

After reading a post on here about using felt tape and gummi pfledge on various bits of trim I bought them and plan on getting it done this weekend.

I'm curious to see if any e93 owners can comment on their f83. Mine had minor creaking coming from the roof so took it in to have it lubed and it fixed the issues. However, there's a loud wooden floor creak that I can't seem to locate when the chassis flexes going up and down a curb. I'm starting to just live with it.

it's probably from the suspension bushings. Just bend over and apply some lube down there.

I had the dealer address my door rattles. I told them it sounded like kids sneakers on a gym floor. They applied something called CARBOFLO and anti-squeek tape. It has made a difference so far.

I had ZERO rattles until I got it tinted now I have the tiniest noise on the front driver's door trim. It's so faint I may be imagining it though as you guys have me paranoid. Overall far less rattles than my 09 E92 M3 which was squeaking all over. Re the door seals, my E60 M5 creaked from those until I added Vinylex then it went away.

My E90 M3 has an annoying windshield rattle. Never had one rattle with my e36 M3, e39 M5, e90 330 or e90 335. Unfortunately BMW seems to be going backwards with their interior build quality.

Hope you guys get these figured out!

I've been wondering this too. I feel like the new f30/80 models are cheaply made with all these rattles. I wanna switch over to an m4 from my 335 soon. My car rattles like no other

No rattles yet, I think.
When I think I hear a rattle, I just downshift and listen to the engine roar

Had the car for 7000 miles now.

It's great, but those minor interior pops and creaks are driving me nuts. And I've only been driving it on solid roads and highways, no city driving.

Also owning a 535... which is dead quiet and rock solid even on the roughest roads of San Francisco (and that's something)... it got me spoiled.

Yup…too many squeaking spots to fix in my opinion. Now my bluetooth won't stream audio correctly (in addition to the problem with veering to the right and the soda can sound from underneath). At least it's fun to drive…for now.
