Android auto/Carplay MMI USB port
Hi guys,
I should be receiving my MMI tomorrow and was wondering where you have placed your USB connections? I was thinking about buying a flush mount USB socket and mounting it somewhere for a neater install. I was thinking in the arm rest or possibly between the cup holders in the center console as I will probably mount my phone on a vent mount. Anyone got any neat install tips. I don't want the socket just hanging. Thanks Dave |

I bought the dash trim from an LCI to fit the usb socket, however as my car has the earlier full size NBT unit, there was no space for it.
So for now the usb lead is hanging down beneath the trim and tucked tightly into the corner so it's not obvious. https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...&postcount=491 |

If you remove the panel under the stereo facia you can see what unit you have.
If you can see the bottom of it filling the space there, then yes this option won't work for you. If however there is some space there, then it should work. |

I have a feeling I will be the same. I think if you have factory Nav the unit takes up the full space.
Just reading the thread you posted in did Andream ever release new firmware to allow the service history to be updated to the digital service book? How do you find the unit, I'm a little worried now after reading this thread. Thanks Dave |

No it comes down to weather you have an NBT or an NBT Evo unit, early NBT Evo is still ID4, so the only way to tell is to take a look.
I don't think writing the service history is an issue, I was just being over cautious as it does log a couple of fault codes, but when I read up on those codes, they don't seem to be anything of concern. The unit is fine, it has a few issue's that apparently are resolved in later software updates (from carlinkit and bimmertech), but so far Andream haven't given us any updates for these issues, however the new units being supplied have later software on them, so it may well be sorted. |
