To those of you that own an e9x M3, dont be disappointed or depressed that your M3 is now obsolete. Even on the track our cars will be faster, as this will fall into limp mode after overheating from a few laps, just like the f10 M5.

As is well known now that the M3 is back at the Nurburgring, it will not take long to appear here, new videos of the tests.
Perhaps you can already distinguish better between V6 or I6.

this is going to be a very beautiful M3 ! i predict no more than 4.2 sec to 62 mph with the 3 turbos and 450 hp + less weight compared to the E9x M3

Are you guys for real, complaining it's freakin dust on these testmules?!?

These testers are getting trashed, why... because when we're buying them, they're supposed to be flawless. (as in not full of dust..)
As for the limp mode, i think it's just a SW issue, my guess is that the testmule F10 M5 have been trashed way more than any civil M5 ever will be.

I disagree.

I believe that BMW is going for further separation between the bread-and-butter M sedan and coupe this time around. I would expect the F80 front end to share DNA with the F30 while the F82 will borrow its front end styling from the F82.

Furthermore, I fully expect the F30 and F32 to look at least as different as the E90 and E92 do, and possibly significantly moreso. Coupling that with what I say above, I think we can expect the same to hold for the F80 vs. F82.

This car is looking better and better every month!!

Not too crazy about the coupe and convertible models possibly being renamed as the "M4". The original M3 (e30) was after all a two door coupe so if anything the sedan version deserves the "M4" moniker and the coupe Stay as the M3...

Come to Guten Parts in South Orange NJ. You won't find any V-8 BMW's being restored there. Only S14's, M42's, M20B25's S52's

All I-4's and I-6's

A lot of M3 purists had trouble digesting the V-8 in the new E9X, no matter how awesome an engine it was. At it's heart, BMW has always been about the Inline Six.

Loving it. I have to admit I have a thing for flared fenders.

Do you think those small pieces of black tape on the sides of the front bumper mean that it will have the same "inlets" as the 1M? I sure hope so.

Performance is not by the count of cylinders.. I will bet anything that the new M3 will eat the current M3.. Just look at the new M5 !!!
I agree. Most people are concerned with the sound of the exhaust then the actual performance of the car

Keeping the coupe as the "M3" and making the sedan the "M4" would be the complete opposite of the naming direction BMW is looking at going, and create even more confusion. The E30 "coupes" were technically considered 2-door sedans at the time.

Well then it raises the question of why is it still covered up... I think it will still share the coupe's front end. Isnt the E9x - F3x / F8x transition supposedly evolutionary not revolutionary

A little bird told me the engine will be a twin turbo I6 with an Electric Supercharger. Very interested by this. We'll see if my source is correct sometime in the near future.

Nothing wrong with your source, but just funny because there are many little birds telling many different things. Only time will tell us which little bird told the truth.

It isn't really a big mystery. It is still covered up for the same reason the F10 M5 was still covered up when testing even though the F10 5 series had been out for over a year. The F80 will not use the exact same front end as the F30, it will derive from it. So, they keep it covered because they don't want to show it yet.

The coupes will continue to veer further from the sedans as they have with each successive generation. This time, BMW will apply the same formula to the M models as well, with no shared exterior parts. Just look at the 5 vs. 6 or M5 vs. M6 - that is the direction they will head with the 3/4 and M3/M4.
