Comp Pkg, keeping your current and future warranties + a performance boost. Give this to me before I end up doing something dumb, please!

That pic of the M4 isn't clear enough...looks normal to me.

The AY one is a normal M4 from BMW Driving experience and the cars they have for the Winter Training in Arjeplog (most probably where these pics were taken) have a protection around the front bumper.
Thats it.

My predictions are...

MY2016 - LCI for F80 M3

MY2018 - LCI for F82 M4.
Competition package available for the F80/82.

The ZCP hopefully wont be like the e90 and make the car absurdly uncomfortable... why would you want to make this car lower / stiffer? It rides like a tank already... i think if you want a more hard core / track oriented car, then the m3 is not your car.

LOL at your false assessment of the E90 ZCP. "Absurdly"? lol

If ride comfort is top on your list, perhaps the M3 in general isn't the car for you.....

F8x ZHP package

Is it possible that a "ZHP" package for the F8x wouldn't have a good market here in the USA? BMWNA did a great job on the E46 sedan with the ZHP back in 2003 since there was no M3 sedan, and they have not since used that moniker on any product. Perhaps it's best saved for an F30 ZHP, but I think they're now using "M" as in M235i for that purpose.

An F8x ZHP would definitely not be a car for many F8x buyers but instead cater to a subset of fanatics who really want a car that is a bit more hard core around the edges.
  • Minor tune tweeks, rated 455hp SAE net, slightly louder/lighter/freer flowing exhaust with larger tips
  • Lower ride height by 20mm, spring rates increased by ~25%, damping profile adjusted accordingly
  • Adjustable front camber (allows up to -3 degrees in stock form…BMW finally laughs at SCCA stock class rules)
  • New design 19” wheels: 10x19 front with 275/30-19 and 11x19 rear with 305/30-19; option of Pilot Sport Cup2 tires (probably have to have owner sign a waiver on cold weather usage…what does Porsche and GM/Corvette do for these tires with liability worries over idiot in cold weather/snow/ice?).
  • Cloth/Alcantara interior, Alcantara wheel
  • Adjustable thigh support, adjustable headrest, adjustable thigh and side bolsters

Would this sell as an option (priced at $4900) or simply as a complete car configuration like the E46 did? Without getting too overdone, what other features should a ZHP package include?

Thoughts?

Not sure I fully follow you here. IIRC, ZHP was the "performance package" on standard BMW models (E46). The modern equivalent would be the M-Performance models (M235i for example).

The equivalent on ///M models would be the ZCP "competition package", as was seen on the E46 and E9X. Such a package will likely be introduced on the F8X for MY2017~18.

As a side note, I am not sure I would want a heavier seat in a more performance oriented option.

Yeah, maybe it's best to use ZCP in this case. Sorry that slipped my mind...I was just daydreaming this morning about my old ZHP that my daughter has now owned for many years. What I had in mind was something that is more hardcore than "ZCP" packages offered in the past here in the USA, especially the E46 ZCP which wasn't worth much imo.

Well the M3/4 are pretty "hard core" to start with compared to the standard models, aren't they?

For the more extremists, BMW made the CSL/GTS/CRT variants. But apparently they figured there is not enough demand to certify them in North America on previous models. Who knows, maybe we will get it too this time around .

Well, yeah in some sense it is, but simple things like how little front negative camber is available with not even the "pins" to pull like on the E46/E90 quickly shows its weakness on track/autox. Heck, even a Mustang GT is adjustable to a bit more the -2 degrees front camber here in 2015. Just a day outing at Roebling (and from video evidence, not overdriving the front *at all*), results in this outcome with the minimal front camber, non-adjustable, on the F80. Hence the reason I said "hard core" I guess since I'm referring to the market for people who seriously use their cars on track, in autox competition, etc. Perhaps that market is not as strong now with the F8x generation since the cars are so large in size?

As he also noted, there will be a hard core GTS model (though coupe only perhaps). US availability is probably best described as sketchy, but I have a feeling M is going to try to make a go of offering counterparts to AMG Black Series at some point soon, so maybe there's a chance it will happen this generation yet.

As for the F30, you are correct that the step-up model would be an M340i and M440i. No word yet if we'll see either of those (nothing on the roadmap yet).

Yeah, I'm intimately familiar with the E9x ZCP. The first thought in my mind though that BMW would simply do something similar to that for the F8x ZCP was "where's Max Hoffman when you need him?". BMW should take a hard look at Ford and GM (GT350 and Z06/7) before just simply cranking out another place-holder ZCP option.

True. But the competition package should be out for both '2016 M3/M4's fingers crossed. M2, CTS-V, C63 all coming next year....BMW needs to keep up. I've decided to wait for that. Maybe all wishful thinking.

I bet it won't. ZCP probably won't come out until the F82 LCI.

I think these cars are keeping up with the current M3/M4. BMW came out with this, now competitors are coming out with theirs. If after a year or two the market share goes down due to one of these other models then there will be a need for a change like ZCP. Just my opinion.

Rumor 2016 BMW M3 Facelift to get Competition Package and iDrive Upgrade

2016 BMW M3 Facelift to get Competition Package and iDrive Upgrade

I came across this on another website and thought it was interesting.

BMW M3 F80 2016 BMW M3 Facelift to get Competition Package and iDrive Upgrade

The 2016 BMW M3 Facelift will get a series of upgrades, starting with an updated iDrive system, Competition package and 20 inch style 663M wheels

It has been only six months since the new BMW F80 M3 came to market and BMW seems to be already testing the facelifted version of the popular sedan.

According to sources, the 2016 BMW M3 Facelift will get a series of upgrades, starting with an updated iDrive system which includes an online entertainment option. It’s still unclear whether the F80 M3 LCI will actually get the full updated iDrive system that will debut later this year in the 7 Series Sedan.

Furthermore, customers will have the option to pick new wheels, the 20 inch style 666M. Inside the car, the F80 M3 Facelift will be offered with new interior trims.

Likely the biggest update for the 2016 M3 Facelift is the Competition Package, but specifics are not available at the moment.

With the F80 M3 having its design tied to the F82 M4, we expect the headlights to remain unchanged, but the rear-end of the F80 M3 sedan is likely to get the revised LED taillights.

The F80 M3 LCI is expected to be unveiled this summer.
