Ok no hurry, I might even have mine by then.
You know if you don't need the back seats the Cayman is still very practical with a frunk and a trunk. You can fit a couple of small suit cases in the frunk and a smaller case or bag in the trunk. Storage volume is actually remarkably good. |

The whites look very good including the base white and the metallic carrera white (bit like mineral white) and contrast nicely with the blacked out lights, wheels and other parts on the GTS. Crayon also looks really good.
Miami Blue and Guards or Carmine Red are striking but a bit like mid life crisis colours but are there to be seen. Agate Gray (bit like mineral grey) and blacks are lost on the GTS IMO unless you like that ninja look. For Porsche GT Silver (a grey looking silver) is the classic colour to go for, contrasts well with the blacks, and enhances the curves, probably a bit old school but my favourite. |

So today i did the Prima Tour in Adelaide (which is a spirited drive day on a track and some closed roads) with my M4.
There was a 981 GTS behind me, which stuck like glue on the mainly downhill twisty bits in the hills. Afterwards, he said that my suspension was too soft and that I had a lot of body roll. The M4 is just a taller bigger, heavier car - you can't change the laws of physics and the cayman is just lower, lighter and more nimble. I can imagine that at GTS would be more of a track ready car. |

Wow the Prima Tour looks excellent. I saw some Targa footage which also have the touring stages. IMO this the best sort of driving fun without risking damage to your vehicle. Though entry fees are a little costly even for Tour category, but would love to do them one day.
I think saying the M4 has a lot of body roll is a bit unfair & probably wasn't the issue. As you say the M4 is larger all over and more suited for higher speed track runs. Though I'm sure you still had a great time in the M4 none the less and gaped him on the long uphills. The cayman weighs <1400kg and wheel base is also very short at 2475 vs the M4s 2812 so it is going to turn more easily on those tight corners. Yes, GTS models have all the good bits for the track, although as mentioned the 981 did not come standard with PTV/LSD, but are arguably much better buying in the used market but I think it would be difficult going from an F80/82 to the slower 981 S/GTS. The 718 GTS comes with the PTV/LSD standard and everything is improved over the 981 GTS including brakes. There is also a larger slotted and lighter Girodisc 2 piece rotor upgrade for use with the OEM calipers for those hardcore track drivers. The 718s and non-GT 911s come with the solid rotors which IMO is a bit tardy. The two piece options are PCCB which are insanely expensive. |

Fancy spotting this thread when I am having these exact thoughts. The M4 is a beast, but boy it is a big and heavy car and to be quite frank, I'm over it having the amount of power it has. Unless it's a highway on ramp, the traction light just flickers. It's just not tractable and I am more the type of driver that loves the sensation of cornering, the feedback through the wheel and chuckability. I ain't getting most of that from the M4. It pulls like a train, but it has too much power and around town in Melbourne, let's be honest, you can't use it anywhere.
I think the next car is definitely going to be a Porsche.

Correct. My mate actually has a 2014 M4 and he was always nervous as its chassis didn't seem sorted. The chassis in this car is fine, but it just has too much power and it feels like a big car.

I'm a fan of both these cars so thought I'd post this video here that I saw the other day of a 718 GTS chasing down a modified M4 with 520hp.
The GTS is stock but both cars have suspension mods and r-spec tyres. M4 also has AP big brakes The pace of both cars is impressive to say the least putting in a 7:33 Nurburgring BTG time. The M4 pulls away a little in the straighter sections but the 718 appears to catch up in the tighter corners. Both drivers look to have the balls. |
