1.)Steering: The 20% shorter steering ratio , revised bushings , and revised control arms up front added a TON of steering feel to the car . This is the way it should have come from the factory in the first place . Whole thing is worth it just for this . People who do a 10 min test drive at 45 mph and say they can't tell ( duh ) . The second you push the car the difference is massive .
2) suspension :
The springs and dampers are both 20% stiffer and the car is lowered 10mm . This was another huge difference between the standard car . Much less body roll, and the car is jus much more composed and controllable at the limit , and in just everyday highway speed lane changes .
3.) reprogrammed MDM :
The new MDM mode puts the power down extremely well while allowing a little more tail out action .
4.)Power: The CP is likely a bit more than 15 hp , my stock Vbox runs of 11.6@127 proves that . Can you do a piggyback to increase the power more sure , but so can I . And then the CP car will still be sig faster than a non . The best thing is the dyno and butt dyno proven fact the CP makes more HP up until 7100 rpm . This makes it feel more like a classic M motor .
5.) CP exhaust : makes the aural experience significantly better than the too quiet standard exhaust . It actually has more pops and burbles than some of the aftermarket exhausts and the black chrome tips look great .
So as you can see you get a lot for 7k which if you wait from launch you can essentially get negotiated away from the price like I did . Do I wish these things were standard ? Of course , hell the suspension and steering should have been that way from the factory . But is the CP a more dynamic , fun car to drive than a standard M6 . Oh yeah. Without a doubt .
George
ZCP on the E9x M3 wasn't a "must have" like on the M6... and I had one.

I think it will be more related to how the M3 is reviewed. The current M5 was basically panned by the critics so BMW seemed to rush out the comp package to address their concerns.

That's totally true, but there are some disadvantages to the M3 coming out first. I'm sure the initial reviews will be stellar. However, when the C63 comes out there will undoubtedly be comparisons to the M3 in those reviews. If the C63 is a beast and those comparisons aren't favorable to the M3 you can bet that BMW will react as quickly as they did with the M5/M6.

Why won't it? Doesn't the M5 add HP now that it's FI? The past isn't always the way of the future.
Because the M5 ZCP is 7k, they will never offer a 7k ZCP on a M3. 2.5k at the most. Anyone waiting for this is waiting for nothing. New wheels, lower suspension.

Except there was more than that in both the E92 and the E46 versions? They don't have to charge 7k to bump the hp up 20. They add a lb of boost.

Wasn't the E92 Comp Pack 3500?

BMW M5 Introduction :May 2011.

BMW M5 European Sales : November 2011.

BMW M5 North American sales : Summer 2012.

BMW M5 Competition Packet : May 2013.

They are absolutely not going to introduce the M3 and M4 and then a Competition packet at the same time.
The new car has to be established first and it has to find its audience.
You are not going to get a competition packet within the first year.

E90 and e92 $2500
This package will include:
Electronic Damping Control with new Sport mode mapping
19” wheels (style 359M)performance tires
Lowered M suspension
Modified DSC mapping

Nothing that special which is why I don't get why anyone would wait? This isn't going to be a M5 comparable ZCP. The price point makes no sense.

Or those trying to justify their purchase as us humans always seem to do often ...

I test drove an m6 CP vs. my M5 [wasn't even an option to get CP because I bought my M5 off the lot and didn't custom build] and it would be incredibly hard to tell if it was the CP upgrade or just the difference between M5 and M6... I tend to think the more planted feeling came from the M6 itself not the CP package vs. a non-M5... I'm sure there is real value in the additions the CP brings but again I really doubt much like the B&O its 7k+ worth of differences lol, just like the B&O isn't 3700 dollars better than the HK.

Your talking about 2 different car.I have ZCP on my e90 and its NOTHING SPECIAL.Im 99.9% sure the f80 ZCP will be wheels, steering tune, and lowing springs. M5 ZCP was BMWs way of fixing the M5 existing problems IMO.

I'm waiting. Wheels, suspension, and 2nd year model is enough for me. lol Maybe some better colors.

BTW I owned a non comp pack and a comp pack E9x. Own a Comp right now. Its night and day w/ the upgraded suspension and mappings.

I drove a standard m6 all out in Germany for 500 km on the autobahn and back roads before I made my decision . It makes the car significantly better period .

You guys who think the new ZCP won't add power are hilarious. We are in the turbo era. There is always power on the table, even more with minor cooling tweaks.

I predict 2017MY comes with ZCP. +25hp, +30ft-lb, 10mm lower, same steering rack, wheels.

I predict about the same but in the 2016MY.

I hope you're right, but I have a feeling BMW is going to continue in the direction they went with m5 (increase their profitability). I hope it will be mostly mild cosmetic adjustments for a reasonable price and the car is a superstar right out of the box without CP, but I guess we will see.

So the best solution as i have it inside my mind will be to order Feb or March 2015 and get a 2016 model which for sure will have fixed any possible issues. Most changes at BMW's factories are applied every March and every July per year i think ?

With the new M2 rumors, I suspect the M3/M4 competition package will be announced around the same time as the M2 is released.

Yep. I also think you'll be able to get some smokin' M4 deals at that point. Just my opinion. But the M2 will probably perform close and be cheaper.

What problems are those? LOL I own one and take turns ALMOST if not as fast as my M3... 14.5k miles on the m5 and 15k miles on the e92 there aren't many problems except when you take a 35mph turn just a tad too fast and the weight bites [but if you know what you're doing the car will be fine]

Is it really necessary for 99% of people to take tuns at 110 vs. 95/100 lol Most people probably don't even hit the limiter on a daily basis.

If you say so lol I still very much doubt you could discern 7k+ worth of differences same way I couldn't for the B&O all that matters is you're enjoying it. I don't keep cars more than a year anyway so not really a moot point for me if they do or don't come out with a CP for the m4.

Strange I test drove comp and non-comp pack M5 2 months ago when I was on the fence about leasing one with the great deals. It was a world of difference to me.
