BMW delivery stop on M3
In case anyone didn't see: http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...php?p=20280811
How will this affect us for who are expecting delivery? Is this something VDC will do? Will the dealership even release it? |

It's certain cars.. Mine was built during that period, it's now at the VPC in Baltimore. Call Genius, I did, they will run your VIN and if your car is affected it will be flagged. My M4 was not affected. It's scheduled to be at the dealership this Saturday.

Thanks! I called and after running my VIN, I was told it wasn't on the list of affected cars.

Shit happens. As long as the delay isn't too long, nothing I can do about it anyway.

Not every car built during that time period is affected. My M4 was built during that period, and was not affected.. Getting delivered this Saturday. Call Genius and they will run your VIN. It will be flagged if your car is affected.

I found out my car is not affected!
Your CA can check for you, or you can PM Mo@BMWofFairfax and he can help you out. Mo turned out to be quicker than my CA.

My car reached NJ port this morning. I spoke to CA and he said he can't check as of yet because VIN is not in system yet. Is that true? CA, I am working with is not that good and he doesn't have much information for many things

VIN goes in the system when the car enters status 150(start of production) so what your CA told you is not true.

Hey,
If your car is already at port, then you must already have a VIN. If he's clueless, have him send you a copy of the latest/last VIR sheet. If you know your Production #, call BMW Genius. Good Luck! Cheers! |

Luckily my car is not affected by this particular delivery stop. It is however affected by a different one I was just told about by a Genius rep. Turns out there is also a delivery stop for certain cars for some kind of head protection issue. I have no idea how many cars or what models are affected by this and he was not able to give me any details. He said that he "thinks" it would cause about a 2 week delay.
Does anyone have any more details on this? |

My VIN is not on the list either. My CA confirmed that he had seen the same list, but my VIN had a service bulletin. The PM told me that the service bulletin referenced the Airbag, but the bulletin referenced the Diff. So confusing. Im in for a long wait anyway, as my car is still waiting on a ship, I just hope that it doesn't turn into an extended wait.

Genius rep did mention that BMW has something called "downtime assist" where they'll compensate you or make your payments in cases like this. Definitely gonna check into that if this ends up taking a while... |

My car came off the production line on July 5th which is one day after the dates mentioned in the delivery stop bulletin. I was hoping I would be in the clear but it's obvious that the actual production timeframe of my car still falls in that range. I wish my CA would have got back to me by now!!! |
