Does BMW not CPO M models?
I went to a dealer the other day try to get a quote on a 2018 M3 with 40K miles with the current CPO program I can get 1.49 APR and a bunch of incentives. But the sales person told me that this car is not certified and they usually don't certify M cars, just wondering if anyone bought their M3/M4 certified.

Yes, they do certify M models. It just cost the dealer more money to do so. Which is why they try not to.

Being it's a 2018 and still had warranty left, I wonder if they is why they're not cpo-ing it to remain competitive. if they cpo it, price is going to increase given the cost to dealer to cpo a car.

It would be easier for them to sale and won't cost me as much since I can get at least 2k of incentives and a good low rate with one extra year of warranty in mind.

I don’t see much reason why a dealer wouldn’t CPO a car if it were eligible- there’s no way they don’t put a mark up on the cost to CPO a car. I’d be wondering why they’re not CPo’ing a 2018 M- perhaps it was a performance center car, or missed required service, accident history, etc.

They absolutely CPO M cars - if anything, because they can mark them up for the baked in warranty. If it isn't CPO'd there is likely a reason why ranging from it may have not logged a required service with a verified dealer to it could be a BMW track car. It's a big range of outcomes so I wouldn't worry too much right away, but I would absolutely ask for the internal maintenance doc that shows services performed by dealers so you can see what was performed and where.

Thanks for the response, I was wondering because the salesperson told me he hasn't seen any M car being CPO at the dealership, maybe I will shop around other reputable dealers

If you are standing there telling them you will pay for the car to be certified and they still won’t certify it, my guess would be there is a reason the car can’t be certified (modified, missed 1,200 mile service, etc.) and they just don’t want to say it. That may not be the case and they instead might just have a dealership policy, but as a buyer I’d assume the former.

Run in the opposite direction as fast as you can. There are plenty of CPO M cars available. |

They certainly do, adds about 5k to the price.
For me, CPO was peace of mind knowing someone didn't overboost the engine via tuning or fuck with it. I have had extremely bad luck throughout the years with turbo kits, tuning, modding, etc. All of it is a waste of money to me so, the 5k was money well spent in my opinion. |

I purchased my 30 Jahre M3 certified with 1900 miles in 2018, for $68k. Still enjoying the warranty, it’s only a year extra but worth it. Car was absolutely flawless. Protection film applied by original owner over practically the entire car. First service right at 1200 miles, plus another oil change at 1700 due to time. I did purchase the extended service plan that garnered me a free spark plug change.

https://www.newcountrybmw.com/used/B...2ec495833.htm# Looks like a prime candidate to be CPO'd based on the year and carfax - below is an example of a CPO'd 2018 M3 with similar mileage near me (keep in mind this is Bay Area pricing and 6MT) https://www.bmwofmountainview.com/ce...f1df844bff.htm It looks like New Country doesn't have a ton of CPO'd cars in general, so maybe they don't like CPOing cars. The only thing I would be concerned about (if anything) on a non-CPO 2018 from a dealer is the potential that it did not pass CPO requirements. I, like others in this thread, specifically sought out a CPO car as they cannot have been tuned previously.

Most of the dealers around this area doesn't list all of their used cars as CPO, like the 440 I bought from my dealer isn't listed under CPO inventory, that's why I always search used car inventory instead of CPO inventory. And yeah I like to buy CPO cars cause they go through more detailed inspection, comes with extra year of warranty, special rates and incentives.
