F8x cars are still some of the most beautiful on the road imho. G8x will certainly trump performance wise but the thing just looks hideous from what I’ve seen so far. My advice would be go with the CS if you can find a smoking deal and wait to see how the G8x matures. If the disdain for its looks continues, maybe an LCI upgrade in a couple years by BMW will fix it? Unsure, but it’s bound to be an extremely expensive car and for me it has to be perfect to make the switch. The F8x is still beautiful, loaded with modern tech and great performance, incredibly RELIABLE, and anybody would be lucky to own one.

I agree. I'm car shopping now and after having two F8x cars I want something different. The G80 reveal pushed me to start looking at other brands as there is no way I'm getting a G8x. Currently weighing a Porsche Turbo and AMG....

He is one of my best friends and short of convincing me that the F80 production was ending early (and being oh so wrong), he is normally a good guy.

He was also the one that told me to pick up a 1M back in 2012.

Truth be told, I stay friends with him for the stories

Yeah I was just generalizing but some of them are actually cool guys. That M5 is just way too big for me too.

You can't order the competition package with 6MT, I still like the look of F80 and no one know how good is the new 8spd auto on G80/82 yet. Get a deal on CS if you can.

I would think the CS is a much more focused driving experience compared to a standard M car. I guess we'll see but i'd be surprised if the driving experience is comparable. Not to say the new platform won't be faster ... CS cars just provide a different experience.

IMO, weight is the big unknown with the G82. If they were able to keep it below 3,600lb for the 510hp M4C, it will easily trump the F82 M4cs. If it’s in the 3,8000~3,900lb range it’s going to be more challenging.

I respectfully disagree...

G80 will be a better car for sure and I want one.

That said; I'm not losing sleep over it or planning to buy one.

I have a dealer willing to do a $20k discount on a new 2020 M4cs...which I feel is pretty solid especially when you factor in the really low MF on leases right now.

Curious what they have in store for track widths. If they'll increase another couple % again, differential front to rear.

Still trying to make sense of them talking up the front axle grip, like that was a low point or area needing improvement from F8X.

Over the F8X or over the G2X? That was not clear to me when they were talking about improving front end grip on the G8X.

I agree. Weight, the big unknown for those of us who track the car. 8AT durability also is an open question.
If it's 3800lb, which is likely for the RWD 8AT version, it won't be that cut and dry. If it can fit much more tire in it then maybe it can be compensated.

The F8X got a lot right: DCT works perfectly, cooling is excellent, weight is very contained vs rivals.

The tuned plots of the S58 are really incredible, it can hold 600whp to redline, but then again it may be too much power for the track.

Hit me like a ton of bricks, turn one, early release bone stock M4 back in '15. Most positive turn in I'd experienced to date. And it's only gotten better with variants since.

I'll wait. M4 CS price will drop by the time the you are ready to buy anyways. If you can wait, wait. What you are currently driving is not a slouch by any imagination.

I'm guessing the M4CS is probably $15k-$20k more than the new G82...but is that price difference justified? Limited production car...probably looks a bit better (i.e., more distinct). But I expect the G82 to actually perform better than the M4CS. Am I wrong?

dated? wow, don't feel that at all with the CS or even the comp model, but guess it's all in the eyes of the beholder. maybe the ones with the older style headlights, but the new exec package headlights make the car still look fire, to me its a 'timeless' design, meaning it can never look dated, kinda like the s2000 CR.

The F80 design is just the right amount of class and aggression, really one of the most beautiful sedan designs ever. Many of us appreciate that over the monster grill/ standard Lexus rear end trend every new sedan/coupe seems to be going to.
