Is my SA right? Black seat badges

Help my out. My SA told me no model year M3 came with black seat badges. He said there were only an upgrade to the standard sliver you could order at purchase. Is that correct?

My understanding is they were standard on MY18's.

I think most SA's don't know much about the cars that are being serviced. They just look up shit in their system when they have to.

I had to replace one LCI headlight and SA told me it was around 7k.

Yea seriously. I get there is a learning curve when dealing with so many model lines, but why can't they just err on the side of caution and do a bit of due diligence? Anywhoo, I do have fun trying to educate the SAs, especially the ones that are receptive. I also find the best method of finding answers like that is to just go on the forums.

Not only are the black ones standard from the LCI on, but if you go in to get cracked silver ones replaced you're gonna get black ones.

Black was introduced in 2018 and they don't crack due to sun exposure like the silver ones.

That's why the black ones are used now. If you had the silver ones replaced under warranty they put the black ones in.
