So I guess that confirms it. The SO interior shows wear much faster than the other colors.

I wear a-lot of JNCO, Pure Playaz and Jupe jeans. My girl is always rocking her Apple Bottom and Baby Phat's. Should I take precautions?

Yeah a little bit. But that's not bad. Leather gets creased. It's like wrinkles in your face: it only looks bad when you don't moisturize

Yea your gonna have to give those up. Maybe BMW can just issue a latex body suit to all SO Leather owners with matching driving gloves. Problem solved?

For those who are saying this is a leather care issue:
These cars haven't been out long enough for the leather to dry out. These are people reporting wear at 3000-4000 miles and maybe 3-4 months of total use. This is not a leather care issue, it's a leather manufacturing issue in some cases. I have personally seen SO wear much faster than any leather I've ever seen, including the famous caramel interior of the e39 m5 which would fade and crack unless you hosed it down with conditioner every day and unless you used a forklift to lift your ass into and out of the seat. SO, with the occasional rare extra unique person, is going to have significant wear at 50,000 miles on 90% of models. |

1500 miles and my Amaro Brown has held up perfectly. . . I think I'm definitely one of very few who can comment on its wear over time so I'll be happy to weigh in as it continues to experience my butt on top of it.

I agree that whoevers car is in the first pics there is some abuse going on in some form. But there have been a lot of other people with the SO that have said they have similar wear as that. Not as bad but similar. |

LOL! Not hating on big people but you know weight is very telling in seat bolster wear. You sound more like you're very tall and not that wide so that is different. Imagine a 5'9" 275lb person in those sport seats and you know what I'm talking about hahah.

I have similar leather on another car and I use Meguiar or Mothers leather conditioner. Leather still looks like new after 5 years. If the leather gets too brittle, the color will start coming off, especially in the area where you enter the car. I add extra conditioner on that side of the seat.

Many years ago I learned how to properly ingress/egress out of a friend's Ferrari Testarosa and ever since then, none of my BMW seats have had major wear on the side bolsters due to using proper technique.
1. face out towards the outside 2. butt leading into the car, slightly bending 3. plop down, turn body towards front of car and pull legs over the door sill and into the car |

I'll just throw out there that in my case, the way I position it, I always have the steering wheel ALL the way out (i.e. closest to seat) when I drive. So unless I put my steering wheel all the way in, or put the seat all the way back, there's not alot of room to get in/out without rubbing the bolster.
Which is fine. I enjoy some good bolster rubbing. Mmm.

The bedazzled asses are not the only thing that will hurt the leather! I have messed mine up with my leather belt on the back of the seat!
I had to lift my butt off the seat one time because a french fry or cell phone or something fell between my legs...upon coming back down onto the seat, I felt/heard this weird "rub". Upon getting out, the seat leather was roughed up from my leather belt as the two leathers did not want to slid on each other... just messed the seat leather up... similar to lesser distressed area in OP's pics. |
