I've seen this a lot on clients cars, performance car with wide tires. Every X5 5.0 we recommend doing the film around the bumpers and quarter panel/fenders. First thing I did with my M3 was to get both sides wrapped. I don't see getting much help with this, you probably wouldn't want metal panels painted even if they would do something due to depreciation. You're better off trading the car with stone chips vs. painted panels. Sorry you're experiencing this, I would recommend getting a good touch up guy to use a hypodermic needle and fill the chips, and cover with xpel as soon as possible.

This happens with every car that has performance tires (sticky) and flares that put the edge of the wheel past the body of the car. You can't drive it on roads that have sand, gravel. Etc... You can often hear it kicking up on the sides of the car. No paint will withstand that kind of damage. The only way to avoid it it to use clear bra down the sides. The black just shows it a lot more.
It's simply a function of sticky tires throwing debris and the flares allowing them to extend out past the body. |

Rock chip solutions...
So I've had the car for a month and I have about 5 rock chips already and only 200 miles on the car. The front has a bra and it's perfect. It's the rocker panel and over the rear wheel that has the chips. Has anyone had splash guards installed? I feel like that would help with the issue... May not look the best but would help yeah?? Any other solutions aside from wrapping the whole car or getting different tires?

Did your car not come with the clear bra piece on the rear fender in front of the rear wheel?

I started noticing chips above the OEM fender wrap 200 miles after re-delivery . Had Xpel Ultimate added to the section above that and a strip running along the arch on the rear bumper.

I think the rocks are coming from the front tires. My rock chips have cut way down after installing side skirts. I can't remember where the pic is but there's a black F8X on the forum with chips all over the rear quarter.

You can never have too much coverage! Our most popular package is our Track Package that includes full front end and rocker panels along with several other crucial areas.
The peace of mind it buys far outweighs the upfront cost IMO. But maybe Im biased If anyone needs a reference to a good installer LMK, our clear bra community is very close knit and I can direct you to a good shop in your area. -Tim Coats Adonis Detail |

Dang. Now I'm reconsidering how much coverage I should get. So far, I've got full front (though only half front fenders), mirrors and front part of roof.
How bad is the rear quarter panel/fender damage? Not as bad as the front I assume? |
