And keyed...

So went to my work's holiday Christmas party at Ruth's Chris, had a great time. However, I go to wash my M4 this morning and some jealous "person" (I use the term loosely based on how inhuman the act it) decided to key my car from the gas cap to the side view mirror. Come on, I have less than 5000 miles on the car! I've never had to deal with this before so I'm not sure if it has to be repainted or can just be buffed out. I figured I would post on here and get some advice before taking it to a shop who is just after the money. Thanks for any input!

P.S. I was parked in ONE space between support columns in a parking garage to avoid dings, not in any way that would entice someone to key my car...

Having a difficult time seeing it except the first picture... At quick glance it looks like an orbital brush / professional detailer will be able to get that out... Hard to say from the glare though...

I uploaded some more. I couldn't get it to upload at a higher resolution for some reason.

Might be easier to just ask you... Is it down to the metal?? What do you feel when you touch it or go across the scratch with your fingers?

Do you have a microfiber towel on hand by chance?

This is the worst part of it, on the rear fender. You definitely feel the scratch, seems deep to me but there is still orange in the scratch. I have many microfiber cloths, I put a little wax on it this morning with one but no luck.

Eeek... For lack of a better word... I'm real sorry man that's just sinister and uncalled for... You don't touch another man / woman's) car... You just, don't...

I'd check with the parking garage and see if they have cameras and I would definitely file a claim with insurance... She'll be as good as new... Nothing you can do about it now, so try to let it ruin the rest of your weekend...

Yeah if your finger is catching.. probably a repaint on the bumper at least.

Take it to a paint shop, preferable a good one. An file a claim on the insurance if needed. They may file it under "act of god"

As for the person that did the crime.

So lame. I hope it is repaired to your satisfaction. If you do file a claim it will be paid under your comprehensive coverage as a vandalism claim which will not increase your premiums but it is still a major inconvenience. I am guessing it was some jealous younger male that wishes he had a better life that did this. Fuck that guy

Only issue with insurance is my deductible is $1000. I wonder how much more than that it would cost to fix?

Where are you located? Phone app doesn't show...

Find a paint shop who will work on the deductible with you...

I'm in Jacksonville, Florida. I have also posted in the Jax Bimmers Facebook group for paint shop suggestions.

Happened to my 2 day old 330i when I first got it.

Its jealousy and nothing else.

If it makes you feel better I actually caught a guy breaking into my car one time. I throttled him and stole his wallet and all the money he had on him.

That is totally despicable. Sorry man. I'd take it to a pro detailer and have them look at it - I'm guessing your are looking at some repainting with that depth.

Have you tried asking the garage operator for any CCTV tapes to see who did it? Many have them these days especially if it is in a nice area.
