Parking miles away and the benefits

Since I got the M3, I've become paranoid about people opening doors so park far away from the supermarket.

Never did I realise how relaxing it would be on all levels. No sitting in queues, missing spaces, getting pissed off with people taking 'your' space; indeed no worry at all - all for the sake of two minutes walk.

Added bonus, quicker to get out!!!

Love the way the sun catches the front wing and door - fantastic colour!

That's my parking strategy too...

I do the same thing and if someone does park next to me I always check the doors before getting in. Slightly paranoid! Wonder if I will be doing the same in the middle of winter when it is pissing down!

Same but she's learned to live with it. She even tells others in the car "we've arrived but it will take another five minutes for him to survey the car park and find the right space".

I've always been fanatical about parking in supermarkets in all my BMWs. I often drive around finding a space or into a space, only to move the car again if I'm not happy. I don't trust anyone.
I always park forward in a space so I can easily open the boot when we return with bags of shopping. However, I won't go forward into a space if the car parked in front reversed in. Too worried about them coming back to their car and squeezing between my front bonnet and get to the back of their car. Also won't park next to anyone who had reversed into a space as they'll come down the side of your car with their shopping.

In fact the other week when my car went into the dealer and was waiting for the loaner, we drove around in the missus Fiesta for a week. Even the missus commented how stress free it was driving an older car.

i try to find a car thats as good or even better than mine (which is not always the case). My theory being if someone is looking to pinch a car they might consider the other one.
Not sure our friend with the McLaren will be able to use this strategy, maybe if he is in Monaco or something

Without sounding too snobby I do this too, also to be completely honest if I'm in the M3 and absolutely have to go to a supermarket it has to be Sainsbury's, Marksys etc.. definitely wouldn't go to Asda or Tesco! I know that sounds really bad (I couldn't be anymore working class) but the damage to my wifes car has always been from the local Tesco or Asda, her new Mini Cooper has already got a dent in the door which I'm going to have to get fixed, never had any problem with those other supermarkets though.

You dont ever want to go to Aldi or Lidl then.

We went to Lidl once a few years back, awful place.

(now I sound like a snob).

My wife has caught this parking bug as well (thank god). She actually left a car park the other day and parked on the road as she said there weren't any end spaces left so chose to parallel park on the side road and walk to the shops from there. Good girl.
