So you want 10k deposit to you and then we pay 671 a month for a car we will be leasing for 6 months ?!!

You have the option to buy it out at residual at the end as well.

Whoever takes over will need to pay NY tax again on remaining lease payments, even if the original person already did. I went through this process previously.

OP - Have you tried selling the car to Carvana etc? Probably easier process.

Happened to me when I moved from nj to ny. Same owner but ny wanted tax on my remaining lease payments (which had nj taxes rolled into them). Compounding taxes. Ouch

Thanks for confirming the NY tax implications on the remaining lease payments based on your previous transfer.

I actually did get an estimate from Carmax over the summer (for fun) and the outcome was significant lease equity. Not sure if the market has cooled down since but I wasn't ready to accept it at that time.

Thank you all for the interest/input.

As I stated in my original feeler post, this opportunity is for someone with the intention of buying it out end of lease term. Seems reasonable, especially one without any stories.
