All types vs M3

I have never seen shit like this for a long time... I had civics, corola s, standard Stang, fucking mini vans, 2004 caddy... What looked like a gremlin.... All tried to race me today? Wtf man lol frankly never ever seen anything like it and icing on the cake was... Wait for it.... CLa NONE AMG thought I was racing him with wife and the kid in the car and he reeeeeved and beat me 0 to 35 and looked over like he accomplished greatness lol (sorry wife and kid in my car and it's a no go she would cut my balls off with the kid in the car)! Frankly this world is filled with d bags of all kind, but the MB guy takes the cake 😉

It just shows how much ego many of these people have... Driving POS and thinking they own the world. I even had a friend who had a CLA250 telling me his car is a 5-second car. I laughed and said you'd be lucky to get below 7 seconds.

A 5 second car, that's funny. Tell him it's a 15 second car and watch his reaction.

Does he also say it traps 133 (car's top end)?

I also get that all the time. I'm sure there are a few posts on other websites about the time some guy in a Civic beat an Austin Yellow M4.

Exact same thing happened with my wife and two kids in the car, some guy in a coffee can muffler civic is trying to get me to engage, ends up pulling ahead because I don't engage. Later he rolls back a bit and waves like "Good race".

Dude, we were not racing.

No one really knows what "traps" means... people will say my car does 0-60 in 4 seconds, so it must be as fast as yours... its not until you jump on the highway and leave 10 cars between them that they understand.

I had the same type of harassment back in the day with my STI. What you do at a stoplight situation is rev back, and even inch forward if someone tries you. As the light turns green don't even move an inch and wait 2-3 seconds to start moving. Let them take off racing themselves.

This was fun and they looked like idiots, planning on using the same "technique" in my F80

This happens to me every day...frequently more than once per day. Civics, mustangs, camaros, mx-3s, A4 2.0s, Ford Focus, Tiburon, lots of trucks, and one insane girl in a 328i who thought she had the fastest car on the planet.

Could it be your (F8X owner) driving style?

I find that when I'm in the right lane waiting patiently behind minivans/SUVs/18 wheelers my car becomes an invisible 4 door family sedan and no one bothers me

But when I am chirping the tires and wide open throttle when stop lights turn green or taking on/off ramps faster than surrounding traffic a lot of "challengers" come out of the woodwork

Its not the driving style, same thing happened to me in my old SRT-4 all of the time. I kept wondering when I'm going to get pulled over for "street racing" when I'm just driving normal and the Honduh next to me is revving out, chirping tires, etc. Even had some doofus in a mid '70s boat try to "race" me on the highway, with another car 4-5 car lengths in my lane in front of me (where am I supposed to race to genius, the back of that car's bumper?).

For me it was worse on certain roads and at certain times of the day.

I agree, driving style is not the problem. I remember when I had one of the first world rally blue STI sedans, with the ridiculous wing. I would be standing at a light and someone from nowhere would pull up next to me and rev and inch forward, trying to race

Or, I would be driving the speed limit when some guy would fly by and rev, or keep pace side by side harassing me. Fun times. Keep in mind most of these people are just having a good time and want to either see or hear you accelerate in your car. They are admiring it

Enjoy it, don't take it so personal. MOST(not all) of these people are not "after you", they are just having fun. That isn't to say I would race anybody, I just smile and keep driving.

Yes, it must vary a lot depending on location.

Or maybe all the YMB, SO, AY F8X are getting all the fun, and everyone assumes my AW car is just a 320 with bodykit and wheels

S---t happens, my brother.........even to me from other "MB" guys, no less. All manner of 250s, older model 320s, etc., etc. They seem to assume that me driving incognito / in grandma mode = the 6.2 V8's balls have been removed. Or maybe that I'm a badge converted poseur. Not the case. I just don't dig tickets, but I'm stuck in a car that car encourages that type behavior. Should've never bought it, ay?

Needless to say, whenever possible, a safe (but quick) teaching moment occurs.

So, as is the case when they run up on the much respected M3s and 4s, I suggest challengers don't let the 4 seats and/or 4 doors confuse them. Based on performance numbers, both are super cars disguised as street-going family cars - before or after the kids are born.

But will they listen?

Color plays a huge role. My Monaco Blue e90 is mostly ignored (despite being heavily modified). My Austin Yellow M4 gets called out constantly.

I have never experienced much of what you guys are talking about, but I also never owned an M or a color that is asking for attention. I'm getting my YMB M3 in a couple of months, wondering if I will be able to join the club lol. My fiance always tells me I drive like a grandpa, and she is the wild one. Gotta take the keys away from her haha

Man, you guys get a LOT of play. I'm always the one instigating lol. No one ever revs up on me at a light or while cruising on the highway. I had way more play when I had my supercharged RSX-S way back in 2005.

This. Last week I had this lady in a 328 try to pull away from me on the highway doing about 100 in heavy morning traffic, dodging in/out lanes and cutting off trucks.

I'm SMH thinking "So she is the driver that makes my pleasant 20 minute commute take 50 minutes due to an accident."

I have personally found that a lot of people aren't really trying to "race". They are trying to bond with you in a certain way as an enthusiast, which, to them, is obvious by the car you drive.

Of course, some really are trying to race.

This.. I see this tinted f30 335xi on my commute sometimes and if I see him pull out behind me in my rearview, he does all that he can to catch up to my position and try to floor it past me all he's doing is slowing traffic down even more.

I ran with a heavily modified Hyundai Genesis Coupe a few nights ago. It sounded great but the speed didn't match the sound.

That shouldn't surprise you. There are MANY on these forums that prefer to sound fast than to, you know, actually go fast. :
