+1 on this. I never use a MF towel. They will cause swirl marks.
I use a Toro leaf blower to dry my car. Works like magic. I try to never wipe or touch the paint and trim. I have shadow trim on my 335is and it looks like new. No swirls or fading. You could Opti coat it. That would reduce the wear and fading. |

Yeah they are a B**** to keep nice. My ZHP has them and they are scratched from the previous owner and I have just done the sharpee trick to keep them looking ok for a few months at a time.

I use spray wax when drying my car with a clean MF towel. It works pretty well as a lubricant in case there is any dirt that was missed during the wash.

Just wanted to let everyone know that claybar worked great and removed the big scratches. I think the mini scratches will also go once I work on it a bit more. Add some carnauba and I think it will be better than new.
That trim is so fragile, its like cotton! You can scratch it just using your finger and you dont even need to apply a lot of pressure. |

A clay bar removes contaminants not scratches. To remove scratches you need to smooth the surface by removing paint.
