Had mine changed at 20k miles and it was included in the maintenance.

I'm thinking of extending my warranty to 5yr 200,000 km's and upping the maintenance on it. Just the maintenance alone will pay for itself and the warranty.

4.5 hours or something like that. depending on how much you care, you are supposed to replace all the bolts from the carbon and aluminum brace.

Would you happen to have a diy write up on the job? Looks easy but tedious. That's a lot of shit to remove for just plugs. Did you pull of the intake because you were already in there. Looks like other work & air filters are being done too.

no write up. but just an oil service, air filters and spark plugs.
but you have to remove the intake pipes to the intercooler to do the job as well as the covers and braces. the air filter covers can stay on.
it's not rocket science but it's not a 20 minute job either.

Is that pretty typical?

Just got my 25k service done and they changed the plugs. And I would say the car pulls a bit stronger. And my SA explained how M cars needs new plugs more often than regular bmws.

Likel pshikhar stated above, my SA said the same thing and that it depends how the vehicle is driven.

the CBS is based on how the vehicle is driven. but the spark plugs are every 3rd oil service regardless of how it is driven.

Ah, gotta love the info you get from your SA and how they're so .

Makes my decision to get the extended service plan to 200,000kms even more concrete.

you wanna get the MPU? here's my 2 centavos...
ask your SA for a printout of your keydata.
It'll show you your average miles over an 8 week period.
Have him/her or a tech measure the pad thickness of your brakes remaining on the exterior pad.

put it all together and see what services you're likely to incur over the next 2 or 3 years.

price it out over the cost of the MPU. if it's a wash, don't buy the MPU and pay for maintenance as it comes. If there's a clear winner, buy the MPU.

Does that make sense?

Makes total sense. I should of clarified that I'm getting the Service Inclusive package, not the Service Inclusive Plus.

I'm in USA, so i'm not sure how it works in CA. I do have a very good understanding of how maintenance plans and service contracts work, so if you there are any questions, I'd be happy to assist.

Thanks for the offer and I will definitely take you up on it if ever I need some clarification.

In Canada we have two levels of maintenance plans.

The first one is Service Inclusive package which includes the following:
Engine oil change including oil filter
Replacement of air filter
Replacement of fuel filter
Replacement of micro filter
Replacement of spark plugs
Replacement of brake fluid
Service vehicle check

BMW Service Inclusive Scheduled Maintenance includes package options that can extend up to 8 years or 160,000 kilometres (whichever comes first). With pricing starting from $365*, there is a solution suitable for all your driver needs.

The second one is Service Inclusive Plus and it includes the following:

In addition to the services included with the No-Charge Scheduled Maintenance and Service Inclusive Plus Full Maintenance options, Service Inclusive Plus includes these additional wear-and-tear repairs:

Front Brake Pads and Discs
Rear Brake Pads and Discs
Clutch (if worn)
Windshield Wiper Blades

Seeing that I purchased my car used in Feb of this year (it's original in service date was April 2015) with 7000km's on it and now it has 45000km's. I'm going to bump the warranty from 4/80k to 5/200k and get the 1st maintenance package to match it. It will cost me $3800 CDN all in for the packages. So the maintenance alone will pay for itself over the course of a few years. When the time comes, it will be easier to sell the car with the additional warranty and maintenance.

Running In Service, common term in the UK for the first 1200 mile oil change.

You stated the plugs are changed on the 3rd oil service, I wanted to know if that included the RIS.
