What a way to end the weekend...

Went with my girlfriend to a family event tonight out in North Hollywood.
Car got a carwash earlier in the day and was looking clean as could be...

We get there and all the parking is taken up in the front so i pulled over to one of the side streets and parked the car for like 3 hours.

I come back unlock my car and heard a weird ticking sound. I thought it was the gas tank cover or something i look to the side of the car and find the whole passenger window shattered...

Glass all over the Carbon roof, interior & hood. The glove box & Center console were left open but there was nothing in the car to steal.

I've never been so devastated in my life SMH, What a way to end the weekend...

Crap. Unbelievable.

I'm always afraid of that esp considering the registration and insurance info has my home address.

This is horrible. So sorry to hear about this. I hope you're able to get it fixed soon with no problems. Fortunately they got nothing.

Is this California or Florida? I'm wondering if the illuminated m logo is making this car an even more attractive target at night.

man that is a total bummer, i feel your pain. Its a sad world we live in sometimes when people stoop this low to damage other peoples property.

OP hope you get her all fixed up and back to new, did you get any paint knicks from the broken glass on your door?

as far as the glass everywhere, I had a window shatter on one of my e92M during a tint install if you can believe it. I was pretty pissed. But what I did is have the techs take the interior panel of the door off and take out the seat and really vacuum it good. We got 99% of the glass out. You would be surprised at how much glass gets inside the door panel when you break your window. My recommendation would be to do just that. Take the door panel off and take out the seat and really vacuum it and then put the seat back and interior door panel.

Man, sorry to see You may want to have the window regulator replaced as well as the glass; sometimes little glass particles get caught in the pulley system and create a crunching sound...

Yeah I'm gonna drop it off tomorrow for repair at my cousins body shop (Who just so happens to be BMW certified) and have them take apart the whole door panel... as far as the paint i didn't see any knicks or anything... but then again it was pitch dark & I'm basing that off of me inspecting it with my iPhone Light, Hoping for the best.

I thought BMW (Broke My Window) ended years ago. WTF. You got to be kidding, I haven't heard of something like this for years. What a bunch of punks. Sorry this happened to you. Get the car detailed and they'll get all the glass out. A good detail shop that is.

Very sorry this happened to you. My friends that live in New Orleans purposely leave their doors unlocked to save windows. Its sad they have to do that, but if there is nothing to steal inside, the damage could be minimal.

I just wouldn't feel right walking away from a car like that with the doors unlocked. Thankfully new technology in cars make them virtually impossible to steal without a key. Even more so if you drive a manual. Criminals are idiots.

I thought the M3 has an alarm if the door is open. I'm going to check it.

Sad. We used to guess that it was something innocent like kids playing baseball. With the levels of income disparity there is a lot of resentment out there. Our cars are vulnerable. Windows are easily replaced. Imagine a rock smash to the CF roof...

If I lived in a city I would consider a beat up corolla or civic or fiesta...

I know for a fact our cars comes with the motion sensor. I left my son in my car and armed the car. Moments after the alarm rang when he started moving around.

Op, sorry to see this! Hopefully it'll be a easy fix.

Maybe the alarm going off might be why it was a quick smash and grab. I know someone who had to park on the street. He had a soft top vert (Miata) and would leave a note every night on his dash. Nothing valuable, radio is stock POS, doors unlocked, please don't cut the top, or break window. His was never touched in the two years he lived there. Several cars around him were broken into.

Can you call the cops and collect some fingerprints on the glove box and center console?
