Intake modifications

Hi everyone, new to the forum, please bare with me. does anyone have experience with the injen evo intake systemfor the F80/F82? im curious to see if there are power gains simply by bolting on a new intake without tunning the car for it.

You will get a slight increase in hp and tq just bolting on since stock ecu will make its own minor tiny adjustments to charge in airflow. Idk 5-10hp est.

What you should do is for just a few hundred more you can get just a tune and stock everything else and make huge very noticeable improvements. 75-100 hp est lol

I got my bootmod3 tune installed for around 1k and an injen intake is 700?? No brainer! No problems with ecu flash tune ever!

OEM intake is very efficient, simply replace the filters/remove charcoal liners.

We have a DIY listed here and always keep BMC fitlers in stock: http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1014235

Replacing the filters is a complete waste of time.

You get zero gain and zero sound improvement.

If you want gains don't do anything.

If you want sound change the intake.

Replacing the filters makes little sense as it achieves neither.

I dont 100% agree with you here! on stock car and stock tune, prob nothing to gain
with a tune it def helps it breathe better especially at altitude.
I noticed lower WGDC on the same tune with drop in filters, that tells me it's def allowing more air.

but yet is not 15 whp..LOL!

Don't by a cheap stuff for good cars, if you wanna change intake - go for Eventuri, Dinan, Arma etc

About perf and gain, if your car is stock - it's waste of money, but if you have good remap or new turbos - you must change intake

Take carbon filters out, done deal.. I wanted Underhood bling so I have eventuri intakes, sounds different.. minimal power gain if any and I’m tuned.

I have Injen evolution intake and BMS Stage 1 tune on F80 6MT ZCP. Plan on installing both soon after the oil change. Would it be a good match? I’ve read that BMS Stage 1 adds about 4 psi of boost across the rev range, so in this case CAI is needed to get more air that the engine needs due to increased boost?

I would like to see data as to drop in filters vs stock vs CAI. Anyone know of dyno results for these applications? Or does anyone have 1/4 comparisons?

I get what you are saying, but many would argue some of those brands are needlessly expensive. Expensive doesn't always equal great quality.
