Holding Water
Anyone notice that these cars hold water abnormally long? What I mean is that after washing and blow drying the car, I still leave a trail of water 24hrs later when I back out for the first time. That water must all be sitting somewhere and I assume it isn’t good for the car.
Anyone else notice this? |

I push in the side mirrors after washing and a stream of water always runs down out of the bottom. I also use a handheld leaf blower around the headlights, grill area, tail lights, and the door trim area. It removes most of the ‘hidden’ water.

Yes, I get water trail marks down at the bottom of the doors and off the drip rail over the back seats. Not to mention random drops here and there. I just plug the flow paths with paper towel pieces and park it in the garage till the next day if possible. I’m so anal when it comes to washing with no drip marks left.
And don’t even get me started on rotor rust after a wash!

+1 on an electric leaf blower to blast out that hidden water. then microfiber, then usually a 5-10 mile drive minimum where I invariably find a random dusty stretch of road or unavoidable puddle or something else that undoes the carwash lol.

RE: rotor rust — these BBS FI-Rs have so little spoke to them that all you see is satin black barrel. When the discs get wet and then I drive it to scrub the surface rust, this rusty water flings out of the rotors and all over the wheels and leaves these ugly rust stains. I’m jacking the car and taking wheels off and washing the insides of the wheels — what a PIA. Looks way better though.
Get CCB if you want FI-R. |

For this reason I started to leaf blow the car but it still held a lot of water. I just picked up a Master Blaster for a good price so hopefully this should no longer be an issue.

That’s why you do it the second your done washing.(go drive and do brakes) come back and wipe down car and wheels. I gonna wipe wheels down anyways so might as well throw the drive in there to get it off there.
