Yeah I must really like them. Because now that I think about it, almost all my favorites cars have alcantara interiors. Including one of my favorite BMW's, E46 M3 CSL.

For me, it was not the Alcantara. I had that in my 2004 330i ZHP and loved it. What I didn't like on the Ferrari was the design and overall layered look. Did not like that at all.

I look at interiors in a different way than most people here. I actually care very little of what things look like, it's more what do I have to do to hide all the damage I've done.
The worst thing in a car are air vented seats, second is a working garage light. Third place goes to soft leather and anything black. Any car company wanting to test a new car should lend the proto (only those with over 350hp, rwd, manual, milk capabilities and a button I can find for the traction control) to me. In a week every soft spot and design flaw will be revealed.

Have never doubted it's practical benefits, just the supposedly 'luxury'/'exclusive' pricing image it has as a synthetic fiber. As for its cost, the fact it costs 3-4x ultra suede would be pure marketing as, from what the little researching I've done says, it is a nearly identical manufacturing process. As I ready myself for the series finale of Mad Men.....I increasingly think the association we have between 'luxury' and Alacantra is just one helluva sales pitch and nothing more. (That is, unless someone has a reason to justify the luxury tag on it - not the practical benefit, the luxury benefit) Quote:
