Active Autowerke VS Remus Midpipe??? - Sound and Quality

I'm supposed to receive a ZCP M4 in the next 2 weeks and I'm looking to upgrade the midpipe on delivery (order it before the car comes). Eventually I will run a JB4 and downpipes but for the first year (or more depending) it will only be the midpipe and coilovers just incase I need to frequent the dealer.

So Remus Midpipe or Active Autowerke? The price is about the same, Remus is a 2 pipe all the way and AA is 2-to-1-to-2.

The remus will give you a deep tone with a bit of a growl on throttle, but the Active will be very deep with minimal rasp.

Haven't seen it paired with stock, but here's Remus paired with Dinan:

& Active with dp:

I've been considering both brands as well.

Would like to see a comparison of both mid-pipes paired with MPE along with data on turbo spool, sound, etc. Think I will end up going with Remus unless Active Autowerke's design really does sound as good as they claim.

Anyone know if/how the Active Autowerke mid-pipe changes the torque curve and turbo spool/lag? Noticed a moderate dip between 3500-4000rpm in their dyno graph compared to the stock dyno run.

Mpe won't do much since really minus the resonator the stock exhaust and mpe are both straight through when exhaust valves are open. Oval piping I know makes a difference in sound, and the active autowerkes does have oval piping.

That drop in torque looks like the Ecu is compensating and/or adjusting boost. I doubt mechanically the exhaust would cause a dip, more likely a computer compensation due to increased flow or overboost.

Honestly, if you are ordering a ZCP, I'd wait to hear the ZCP exhaust before you automatically change the mid-pipe. The ZCP exhaust sounds damn good as it is and rivals some aftermarket exhausts.

Search is key.

Check the video on there. David explains it in the post.

I have non-resonated Remus midpipe on stock exhaust on my 2016 M4. I will have pics and videos soon. I like the sound.

We installed a mid pipe on a ZCP not too long ago and noticed that it sounds quite different than the standard F8X muffler.

Sounds great, now I just need to figure out if I need to also upgrade stock exhaust to zcp lol. I have heard arguments from both sides that they are different or they are the same. Not sure what I think at this point.

They physically look the same, but they do have different part numbers and in our experience they sound different.

Bro. Anybody that tells you the M-Sports exhaust is the same as the non-ZCP exhaust should not be listened to. It's a well-known fact at this point that they are different and the M- Sports exhaust sounds better by a LONG shot.

So does he. BMW refers to the zcp exhaust as "m-sports muffler" which is not the same as M Performance

Exactly.

The ZCP exhaust is called the M Sports exhaust. Not to be confused with the M Performance exhaust, which is a totally different design and made of Ti.
