I was about to trade in my modded Wrangler for one, but with all the cam phaser issues, I decided I didn't need that stress. They all have it on one point or another, and even though warranty covers it...it's a lengthy repair that sometimes needs to be redone.

Supposedly they will come out with the v8's in a year...I'm waitinh

Congrats! It is a bummer that So Cal (and the Bay Area etc) dealers are in another universe when it comes to pricing.

They are stacking up here and this is truck country, they are going for 4k off MSRP pretty regularly around here now. My Lariat lease is up in 6 months and I'm seriously looking at replacing it with a Raptor.

Thanks! I’m loving it. I literally haven’t driven the M3 since I picked it up. Racking up the first 1000 miles so I can change the oil and slap a tune on it. Will probably go with the Whipple Stage 1 hardware, since Ford supports it, and maybe a JDM tune. These things hold their value so well out here that I didn’t mind paying MSRP for the convenience and quick delivery. When I move I will probably sell it here and then buy a new one in my new location, which will be in truck country where they deal. Maybe they will be putting a V8 back in it by then, and I hear that in the next couple of years it will be losing the rear leaf springs!

I've heard the V8 rumor for a couple of years now. My Ford contacts say it'll never happen, but you never know. I love the 3.5 in my Lariat so I'm sure I'd be fine with the higher output version.

If they did come out with a Raptor equipped 7.3 or the 5.2 TT V8, I'd throw my wallet in the finance room and just say take it.

From what I’ve read, they don’t all have it—it’s kind of luck of the draw. Kind of like the crank hub with the F80. The cam phaser issue may be related to tolerance stacking or something, which would explain why it’s kind of random and some trucks get it multiple times, while others never do. My fingers are crossed.

Honestly it all depends on where you are and what you like to do. I've owned a Gen 1 and just traded my Gen 2 in for my F82. No regrets especially after going out west to the raptor assault in Utah and driving the truck how it was built for. Don't get me wrong trucks badass, but not for the east coast. Nowhere to use it. That's all for now. However if you do decide to trade for one and want a set of wheels I have a set of rotiforms in my shed waiting for you. 😂

Picked up this little piece yesterday. Should be a great daily driver and very useful vehicle for me. Had to beat them up for awhile, but finally got about $4000 off MSRP which is really good for these, especially locally. Pretty loaded up with the 802A, carbon fiber trim, and tailgate step. Very excited!

Yeah, other it not sounding great, I really like the turbo 3.5. Lots of torque and it spools up quick for daily driving. Sort of feels like an S55 in a truck.

Not much yet, lol! Dummies at the dealership had the tires pumped up to 52 lbs so it was driving sort of like a tank. I might have some today to air down to the proper 38lbs and hit some whoops at 80mph!

Yah there is a White SCrew with the blue interior/802A and a rare Raptor without the twin panel moon roof on it for almost 6 off. I'm very very tempted, but I have a very real love hate with Ford.

https://www.northcountryford.com/new...archDepth=5:10

The love, they build some very fun and unique cars/trucks in an otherwise fairly copycat market IMO.

The hate, I wish they were built by somebody else as Fords's quality control, reliability and customer service absolutely suck when you have a problem.

I have a friend of mine that just had his 18 5.0 F150 motor replaced due to excessive oil consumption. Ford were a pain in the ass/dragged their feet about it for months just like when I had my 5.2 replaced for the same reason. Both of ours were using a quart every 300 miles or less.

My own issues plus friends that I know having issues with Ford such as delaminating paint on their Explorers/F150s and then Ford saying they won't warranty it because it is supposedly impact damage. They ultimately replaced their hoods and other parts after they both went to multiple dealers/called Ford CS before Ford would do anything about it. This plus the forums look exactly like the GT350 forums with engines popping for multiple reasons and the dreaded oil consumption issues. Along with 10 speed trannies and gearboxes failing at too high of rates for my tastes. Also check your oil as there have been many reports of them being under filled with oil from the factory.

Ford either screwed something up or didn't test it correctly when they went to plasma lined cylinder walls. They never had this big of oil consumption issues across the range of their engines before they went to that process. Knock on wood my 16 older gen 3.5 mated to the old 6 speed has had zero issues. The truck has had multiple recalls, but luckily been very reliable except for a leaky twin panel moonroof, which is another reason I'd get a Raptor without one.

Any way, I'll be watching and seeing how your guys experience with them is. I really hope it is a very good one because dealing with Ford and some of their dealers really sucks. Like I said, I love the Raptor for what it is (and the GT350 was still probably the most fun car to drive I've ever owned), but Ford has some serious culture issues they have to tackle to bring their products up to par.

In short, I'm just a little gun-shy to jump back into Ford Performance (or any Ford right now for that matter) vehicle again just yet.

Nice!!!

Apparently a stock raptor finished (barely) the Baja 1000 a few years ago, so hope you can get it out to some nice off road events

Does it have enough tow rating to tow your p car in a beaver tail trailer?

Congrats!. Same spec as mine. I'm loving it as a daily. About to drop the Whipple IC and CAI into it and then put in a JDM tune. Just mounted my BD XL80s on A pillar mounts and next weekend the BD S8 light bar goes in behind the grille. That should be a fun install. I'll be a rolling sun with 38,500 lumens.

Yeah, it’s rated at 8000 lbs, so plenty for for my open trailer and a sports car. Usually towing my E36 race car which is only 2550 lbs anyway.

As of now I still have the 12V Cummins. I might end up keeping it if I can sell 1 or 2 of my other cars. Selling a mint condition ‘87 IROC and a ‘78 Trans Am project car.

Looks like Ford found the problem and has addressed it. The phasers and PCM calibration were identified to be the root cause of the concern. All 3.5 GTDI (both standard and high output) built after April 8th 2019 have the revised phasers and new PCM calibration. For vehicles built before April 8th, the dealer will replace the phasers with the updated design and reflash the PCM. Mine is a June 2019 build, so I should be set.

Need pictures please !

Mine's still 100% stock, but it had no problem making quick work of some jeep trails the other day in Sedona. Toughest part was keeping the wife from not having a hissy on some of the more gnarly parts. Nothing like doing rock crawls with AC on, cooled sears, and satellite radio on.

For those haven't driven a Raptor around town, it's seriously the most comfortable daily driver I've ever had. The tires, shocks, suspension absolutely suck up every bump. Most new luxury SUV, even trucks have these big wheels with low profile tires nowadays. Not the Raptor, huge sidewall cushy tires and Fox shocks gives it almost a cloud like ride around town. Even driving the jeep trails and forest service roads the other day, you don't feel beat up afterwards.
