I think they look great. But it would be hard to walk away from a self driving tesla if I was only looking to buy a luxo-barge.

I had a 75D loaner recently and the speed was not very astonishing. Or rather I was astonished at how much the pace fell off at freeway speed. Need a p100dl to be impressive, in my opinion |

As for the drive, I haven't driven an M5, but I don't find the M550 very sporty. It feels like a really big car and while I'm sure the M5 would definitely be sportier than the M550 by a long way, it is still a very big car IMO. But, it does do luxury very well and is obviously extremly powerful. Add in AWD and you have a really nice car all season car that can carry 4 adults (or some combo thereof) very comfortably. Also agreed, for that kind of money I'd be ordering a manual 911 GTS or buy something used in the 911 family. |

Having driven the M5 on track as part of a launch event, I was thoroughly disappointed.
Yes it's fast but overall it was boring. A major letdown. Handling was ok for a big car but it lacked excitement. The Xdrive ZF compromise reveals the danger of chasing 0-60 times. A car is so much more than that. Plus the wheels were shit and the exhaust note average. BMW M needs to stop tit for tat with AMG and focus on its strengths and core principles. The BMW M5 felt essentially like a Quattro Audi with a BMW badge. Yes you can turn off the x drive but in RWD the car looses all poise and balance. |

As a long-time E39 M5 owner and overall M5 fan, I just have to state the obvious...no MT.
Yes, I know why. But I can't make terms with it. If your F8X is DCT, I can't see a good reason not to buy a F90 M5 if you can deal with (or want) the size. Have fun with your decison.
