Any spacers on your car? Or Stock width? Any photos?

I'm on 295's at rear, they work well but have less tread width than 285's. Yes, less. How about a pic of your 285? Notice any difference in feel, traction, NVH etc?

No spacers, stock width. The 295's were bigger tire overall and filled in the tire gap better, although the grip is great on the 285's so far. Almost feel like they are better but can be that they are new as well.

After driving with the 285's the grip is amazing, feels like the 285 is better. I'll take some phone pics and upload tomorrow so you can see the difference. The 295's to me though looked alot better but if the grip stays as good as it is now Ill stay with the 285's in the future, would rather have grip>looks.

I may have missed it earlier, but what size are you using for the fronts?

I need a new set of rears, but since I'm running 255 35 19 in the front, I'm wondering if there's any real benefit...or significant downside...to going up to 285 35 19 in the rear (on 10" HRE FF04's w/ ET40).

I’m confused, the tread width is wider on the 285’s instead of the 295’s? I’m kind of a newb at this still, but does that mean the 285’s have better grip and traction than the 295’s?

I’m debating to go from my OEM PSS 255F/275R’s to either the 275/35/19 fronts and 295/35/19 rears, or go with the suggested 265/35/19 fronts and 285/35/19 rears. I’m only concerned with increasing my traction and grip, don’t care about look at all (who looks at the tires anyway lol).

Thanks 🙏

I have 265's in the front, MPSS. When they are toast I will switch to 265's in the MP4S tire.

Benefits for upsizing to 285 in the rear is more grip/traction as opposed to stock 275. Plus it will look much better as well with wider stance. Moist people here upsize for traction purposes..

Yes the 285 MP4S have more tread, I believe it is 0.6 more than the 295's.
So for more traction definitely go with the 285 35 19 MP4S for the rear and 265 35 19 for the fronts MP4S.

Best combo for grip on the MP4S tire model.

That’s awesome, I’m glad the 285’s actually have better grip than the 295’s, as I can use it with my stock 255’s PSS fronts.

Could it be by chance you were driving the 295’s in a colder weather than the 285’s? Doesn’t make sense that a wider tire have less traction.

We are going over old ground here, but I know, TLDR....

The last time I checked, the MP4S 295/35-19 only comes in a Mercedes *spec, and the tread patch is actually a bit smaller than the 285/35-19. That’s why most (including me) get the 285, unless you are willing to go up to the 305.

Gotcha, good info! Costco doesn’t have the 265 fronts available, I guess I just need to replace the rears with the 285’s. Does it matter if I pair the PS4S tears with the PSS fronts?

Not a terrible mismatch as long as you aren't planning on super aggressive driving. Ideal scenario would to have all 4 corners match.

I'd like to buy new PS4s for my 17 ZCPM3

This might be already listed but with 44 pages on this post - What is the best place to buy?

$1300 off of tire rack with free shipping?

Discount tire?

Other options?

i have just swapped from oem mpss 265/20/30 on the front of my 18 ZCP as i had scrubbed the shoulders down to the canvas and the lettering on the sidewalls was gone (3track days). Gone to 265/20/30 ms4s and they appear significantly wider as the tyre has more bulge/no stretch. does seem to ride slightly better too. will be interesting to see at the next track day how they perform as i am hoping for more front end grip.

Just installed 275/35/19 and 295/35/19 4S and it transformed the car. Coming from a C7 Z06 I was extremely disappointed on how the M4 put power down when tuned. The Continental 5p only had 4k miles on them but apparently they are junked compared to the 4S.

I knew the MPSS were a great tire after owning several C7s but didn't know the gap to the continental was this large... It's totally different car all around +++!!!

Hey guys..need some confirmation on this: There is only one 265/35/19 MP4S avail for the f8X, and this tire was originally designed for an M2 rear axle (?).

This same tire CAN also be used on front axles of the M3/4 however it will not be best for aquaplaning as it’s not designed around or for the front axle.

Does the 265/285 combo cause any issues with dsc and mdm?

Nope. I have this setup and no issues with the CS coding at all.
