DIY F8X front wheel hub/bearing replacement

Disclaimer I am a highly trained individual, just not in auto repair. Exercise due diligence. Wear eye pro. Use jack stands. Practice safe sex. Etc.

Tools required
Torque wrenches with specs ranging from 12nm to 140nm
17mm lug socket
5mm allen
10mm socket
18mm socket
T-60 preferably impact rated

First crack the lugs and get car on jack stands.

Remove wheel. Wheel removal tool is your friend.

Remove caliper with 18mm socket.

Hang caliper, avoid kinks.

Remove rotor by removing 2 circled bolts with 5mm Allen. Use lug bolt to prevent dropping rotor on foot

Remove dustguard if desired with 10mm socket

Remove 4 torx bolts attaching hub. Use a T-60 with breaker bar or impact

Note tab on hub. This will locate at the bottom

Mount new hub with NEW bolts. Torque to 120nm then tighten 90 degrees more. Mark your 90 degrees with a sharpie then tighten till your marks line up. Bolts are micro-encapsulated so no loctite required.

Grab a beer and admire your work

Remount dust guard with 10mm socket. Torque to 12nm. Mount rotor with 5mm Allen. Torque 2 Allen bolts to 16nm

Remount caliper with 18mm bolts. I used blue loctite then torqued to 110nm

Reinstall wheels and torque to 140nm

Test drive and ensure nothing falls off. If anything departs the vehicle seek additional guidance.

Bummer! Looks like one of the wrench monkeys didn't get the threads started well enough before blasting the lug bolts with an air-driven impact gun.

So did you have to replace the hub yourself? I can certainly understand if you didn't want them touching your car after that though.

Glad I found this... Thanks to getting new tires today looks like this project is in my immediate future.

Any reason you didn't just buy the hub?
Also, which bolts did you buy? Do you have the PNs?

On the front it comes as an assembly and if you could buy separately I would still change the bearing.

31-20-6-872-920 is the PN I used.
