Well done, and gorgeous color! BTW....I am pretty sure that I saw you turning onto Frontier the other day? Do you recall seeing a San Marino Blue M3 CS?

Somehow the only look for the Porsche that grew on me and I love is the GT3 and the 911 Turbo. The GT3 especially completes the look front to back starting with the lip all the way to the back with the integrated wing. Never found the 911 and 911S that nice looking. They look classy in an old fashioned way but not aggressive like the GT3. Just my take.

I jumped back to Porsche too.
2019 991.2 GTS. It replaced my F80 M3.

Thanks. Yes it’s a wild color. No one touches Porsche when it comes to blue colors or greens.
Below was at a track day at the Poconos with its cousin Macan GTS in Miami Blue. Last edited by Funf6cyl; 05-04-2019 at 11:20 AM.. |

Yeah, I have mostly only gotten attention from some Mustang owners, and a guy in a Camaro ZL1 while stuck in bumper to bumper traffic on 75 the other day. Oh and of course the occasional Hyundai Elantra/F1 driving idiot..... whyyy? I'm still new to the area, so if you have any good roads to recommend I'm all ears

OP, congrats, beautiful looking car. Agree with your experience. The F8X's are great cars, but at certain limits you lose confidence in the vehicles. The F80 DCT also had a slight lag from a stop which scared the shit out of me once or twice since I'd pull onto a highway (yes from a stop sign) and I'd floor it but nothing would happen for a second or so then all of a sudden you're at 100MPH. Definitely far less predictable as others have stated.

I'm actually thinking of selling my F80M CP and making the P jump as well...
TBH the M blows the Porsche car out of the water in terms of torque/power, but I can tell the Porsche GT3 would really shine in my local mountains (Angeles Crest) or any local track. I've been driving my buddies 997.2 GT3 and when he bought it ,we drove down in my F80. I drove the GT3 back home and instantly noticed it's lack of power, but it's N/A. The power delivery is all at the top. The M's low end torque is instant! I did notice when in the upper rev range in the GT3, that thing pulls.. The Porsche is a more track focused car from the factory and the M is more civil, granted it has loads of power. I'm looking at 997.1 GT3/991.1 S cars right now. The 997 GT3 cars are super rowdy and I can't see any Girlfriend wanting to ride inside. My buddy has the GMG oval exhaust and you can hear that car a block away. The good thing about Porsche cars, is the availability of parts and shops that can work on any year of the cars. The 997 GT3 cars are very purposeful though. Not the kind of car you can daily, run errands or even casually drive around. It requires so much attention with the gear box and clutch situation. That being said, I would love to have one for a weekend squirt up the highway kind of car. Drive up to the mountains. |

One thing you need to keep in mind is that porsche tax is real. Parts are stupidly expensive. And not sure where you live but here in Bay Area, there is a 6-8 month waitlist to get your car into the most highly regarded shops, and you will pay top dollar for labor. You are seeing the great side only of porsche since you borrow one from your friend and go play. Keep in mind that when it’s your car you will be paying to play for those cup 2 tires, the larger amount of synthetic oil used each service, and the sack of $$ you will drop if anything happens (eg blow up 1st gear from too much power). I love having one, and it’s super fun, but my brand new full warranty f80 was a way better value, and could have been modded with more tire and better exhaust to be pretty close to as fun. |

Right now my cars are F80M CP and a TDI Golf Sportwagen Manual.
Even though the F80M is a blast of power when I get in it, the TDI is equal in comfort. That's not a bad thing, but it would be nice to have something rowdy.. Also the reason why I've been looking at 991.1 S cars. Not super rowdy and the somewhat comfort of the F80M. Some say it's a lateral move from the F80M to 991.1 Carrera S car, and even lesser power. In LA there are a billion Porsche shops, some better than others. A majority of my immediate circle are all P car owners and getting something fixed wouldn't be an issue, until I got the bill! Blowing up a Mezger doesn't sound like it would be a fun invoice to receive... Probably why you see some cars sitting at shops for years. Guys trying to come up with the money to pay that bill! How come Porsche guys never buy Pilots Sports 4S tires? Sizing issue? Cup 2's sound great and all, but R compound on the streets are good and sticky, but they wear SUPER fast. |

Also, I wouldn't say the 991.1 S is a lateral move from the F80, F80 is faster, but tbh the 911 handling is leagues above the f80, i mean it is purpose built vs starting out as a passenger car.

Set of ps4s is $1.3k, set of cup 2 is $1.5k. If it’s not your daily why not get more grip. Feedback I have gotten is that if you keep up on maintenance, don’t rev it up while cold, and don’t use a bad tune (and put a hole in the block), then Mezger engine is bomb proof. I’m not too about worried mine since I am only on a 1.2bar conservative off the shelf tune |

If I was going to buy a porsche, I would skip older GT3's and go straight to a 991.2.
The 991.2 911 S murders the F8X M3/M4 in every single aspect. I know I had both. I would not buy a 997 or even a 991.1 GT3 when pricing on the 991.2's is obtainable. The few 991.2 GT3 guys I know always talk about lack of torque in there GT3's. So to me, the 991.2 is the best 911 platform out. I got my 2019 991.2 GTS for close to 20K off MSRP since the baby panamera 992 911 is coming soon. If you going to buy one, Id vote for 991.2, S or GTS all day long. The 911 S 991.2 is no joke. And totally affordable if shopping in p car territory.

i've been toying with the idea of dumping my 458 for a 991.2 gt3 for a while. Just hard to part ways with the supercar looks and v8 soundtrack. But having that porsche build quality piece of mind is nice too. my ferrari is nearly 10 years old now and unfortunately cars age and things wear.
might wait on the 992 gt3 specs to be announced first.

At the time of purchase the 992 release was hyped and I used that to bargain. Why would anyone buy a end of life model when the new one is SO much better??? is what I would tell them when negotiating. I know a few people at a few dealers down here in Socal if you are seriously looking. PM me if you want to pick their brain on deals they might have.
