All Leather Master products:
-Dye Transfer Cleaner (only when required to remove transfer from wife's jeans)
-Ink Stop
-Soft Cleaner
-Protection Cream

I clean/protect the leather every ~three-four weeks.

BTW, my '16 M4 exterior is Moonstone

Does moonstone require all that same care as you just detailed? For me, what you just said about opal care is WAAAYYYY too much. The first time I saw dye transfer I would likely loose my mind.

I really like how opal and moonstone look, but I measure the amount I clean my leather seats in months, not weeks.... and with black interiors (and the fact I dont eat in my car, and dont have young kids in there) means it looks fine all that time.

Moonstone - do you mean cleaning/detailing the exterior? Moonstone is just like any other exterior paint color when it comes to cleaning/detailing.

I should've been more specific on the ~3-4 week cleaning of the Opal White...I do a quick clean every ~3-4 weeks and a detailed clean/protect (i.e., use of ink stop, cleaner and protection) every ~3 months. The ~3-4 weeks tends to workout as a quick wipe down of the leather every other exterior wash.

No problemo - I currently have moonstone exterior and I love it, if I could get it again without paying $5k I would and probably go with Cohiba and solve my problem.

For me, I want an individual color because I want the full coverage and altering full leather for extra coverage (i.e., silverstone leather) isn't worth it as to my eye it's close enough to white that I'll just get white.

Cohiba is a possibility, but then I'll have an all dark car. Golden is probably too close to sakhir which I have now. Amaro is a possibility ... and nutmeg is both dark and strange looking to me.

I think I gotta pimp it.

In all honesty, anyone who really wanted GrussGott to pick GB should have voted for Opal White. He's a founding member of the local California contrarian society.

In that vein MRCUR you have no shot in your roof discussion.

When you go to the beach, sitting on the headrest of your seat with your head sticking through the sunroof looks WAY less cool.

Plus, I just can't even imagine sport driving with a roof on anymore. Granted if I'm at a track all helmeted up, then it doesn't matter, but then I just rent or borrow a car.

Maybe if I lived elsewhere.

California is about liberty: don't be a goof, lose the roof.

Today in the bay area it is was a California 82 which means you can be in shorts and flip-flops in the sun or jeans and a sweater in the shade.

I slathered on some sun screen and spent 5 hours in the car amongst the mountains and redwoods. It smelled like sage and lavender and pine and salt. I have sand in my pockets. I got a tan line on my wrist from my watch.

If lovin life is weird then I don't wanna be normal

This wasn't today, but it coulda been, cause I do this every week:

Opal White after 7 months and 9100 miles. I wipe them down once a week or so with a Dr. Leather wipe and that's it.

Hey thanks! Great post ... that looks pretty good. I had a silverstone type color on my B6 S4 and it was about same, not too bad, so glad to see the evidence

Of course when I stand on the seats I use a towel

Ha, well they're missing a market with the M4 vert: photographers. Fairly frequently I park near the beach and take pictures of the parasailers and surfers. You can easily sit on the headrest and rest the camera on the windshield; better than a tripod!

I posted this in another thread about Individual, but it's worth posting here also. This is from the BMW Individual catalog #03 (Feb 2017):

For GrussGott, there was this:

Quote:
Even the finest leather, in its early and natural state, is beige. One of the greatest challenges, therefore, is creating pure white, especially when it needs to have the radiance of Opal White fine-grain Merino leather. This is only possible through the most scrupulous selection of material, and in unique, high-tech processing methods. The lightness of the color also means that processing requires considerable experience and precision. In contrast with the darker BMW Individual colors, Opal White evokes the Mediterranean-style elegance of exclusive yachts.

Thanks SD, this is interesting because I've asked about some individual changes and some of them are twice as much with Opal ... I guess this explains why!

I'm thinking it's the way to go because with a 'vert my biggest problem is sunscreen and opal will completely hide that!
