BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Its been a long couple of weeks but the car is finally “done”. I had 95% of the mods done within the first week trying to fit car modding time in-between family time was not easy. I'm sunburned and mosquito bitten countless of times working on my car but mods still needs to be done! Everything here was installed by myself except for the suspension. I could have done that as well but just didn't have the time.

As a kid I've always been a huge fan of the M3 and it was one of my dream cars to own. This is also my 6th BMW so I am no stranger to the brand but for one reason or another the M3 has always eluded me. When I was finally able to afford one my wife and I had baby #1 so the logical thing to do was to jump into a F10 5 series. Then baby #2 came along and the next move was to get into an X5 and later an X5M for the growing family. Throughout this time I've always had the M3 in the back of my mind saying to myself "one day....one day Alan....". Ironic because i've had more expensive cars before but I just needed more space and I needed to keep the wife happy as the saying goes

We'll fast forward to now where the kids are old enough to not require a stroller or diaper bags anymore and I found out from this forum about BMW sending over a bunch of Individual color cars at no cost. I always said that if I got an F80 it would have to be a individual color and 6MT. Grigio Telesto wasn't my first choice but it was def one of my top 3 so I thought to myself free individual paint, no waiting 5+ months for the car, its now or never! Posted up my X5M for sale and within a day I had a buyer for it so I moved forward on securing my M3. Called up my long time friend George Javier over at Rallye BMW and told him what I wanted and he did his magic. Found me a grigio telesto / sakhir 6MT that another dealer had and was able to trade with them for it. The best part was the car didn't actually make it to the other dealer yet so George was able to re-route it directly to him instead so no worries about the car sitting at another dealers showroom getting scratches or being sold right under my feet!

Long story short I went from having a fully modded up F85 X5M in June to selling it and now having this M3 by July 4th. Everything just worked out and it was like it was meant to be. I can't be anymore happy with this car and it certainly lived up to my exceptions. There are some things that I miss from the X5M but considering the deal I got on this car I really can't complain. I just need to finish the break in process so I can really compare how the power is compared to my tuned X5M.

Huge thanks to following people helping me with this project:

George Javier over at Rallye BMW for locating me this car
Eric over at Supreme Power for getting me these sick LMs
Ryan and Nate over at IND for hooking it up
Evan over at Getbmwpart.com
My buddy AW305 helping me ceramic coat the car

That is so siq! My fav wheels all-time. If you're in LA, I'd love to buy you coffee so I can check these out in person.

I just hope BBS has the temerity, once and for all, to release these 20" LMs with proper F8X fitment like they've done with the LM-Rs. 10" rears just lack that bit of steam roller look that 10.5-11" on 295s provide.

Extra credit for giving us an all black wheel option.

I hear you on the wider wheels. I did the whole steam roller thing with my X5M with 335/25/22 rear tires already lol

Wide rolling tires looks cool but also increases your chances of picking up all sorts of junk getting stuck into your tires.

Ever since I was a little kid I wanted an M3 and I wanted BBS LMs

I remember your E90 on CX-R's from the good old E90post days!

You've really stepped it up. Car looks amazing.

Beautiful build...was wondering if you could list your mods. Was wondering what suspension you are on and whether you have spacers?

Thanks!

I still love that 335 which was also 6MT. Those CX-R’s are still one of my favorite “cheap” wheels. So underrated.

Nice meeting you that day at Rallye. The boys over at Rallye always takes care of me

I’ve had nicer and faster cars before this but this 6MT really makes this car more special to me.

Macht Schnell Comp Springs. No spacers. My rear setup already rubs slightly on dips and potholes. I had to modify the inner liner to barely clear. The Oem PSS stretches just enough to make this setup possible. PS4 in the same size run blockier side walls and would rub for sure.

So the very fact that you're running stock narrow 10" rears on 285s yet still rub makes me wonder wtf BBS was thinking releasing these specs for the F8X. smh

Appreciate the honesty.

Thanks...any reason why you decided to go with the comp springs instead of the MPerformance HAS or KW HAS?

How is the ride withe comp springs compared to the OEM ZCP?

Thanks,
Ray
