Autobahn BMW in Fortworth Texas. There is no epoxy involved in replacing a CF driveshaft and they don't need the car for more than a few hours if they schedule you in.

My replacement driveshaft was ordered on Tuesday and should arrive no later than today.
They said they will call me back for appointment once it arrives.
This was said while i was doing a brake fluid service and a washer fluid sensor replacement on my F80 on Tuesday
San Juan, Puerto Rico service center.

The only liquid I noted in the install instructions was red Loctite. The nut at the diff is a real monster to loosen.

I got the driveshaft changed out today. Took about a day. They had previously told me the replacement would be steel, but after I picked it up, the replacement was actually CFK.

I dropped mine off for a new windshield today and driveshaft recall. They said they needed to visually inspect prior to ordering the replacement, which this afternoon they say it needs. Advised 2 days to get the part.

I’ll update once the repair is done with details.

Dropped my car today for replacement. They said tomorrow should be back in my hands.
Part was pre-ordered.

Just to let everyone know that is affected by this recall, BMW is requesting us to order the parts vin specific AND they are asking for a key read within 5 days of the order date. From that point it takes usually 1 day to get the DS to the dealer.

So for those of you trying to call in a schedule, you need to come in and let us read the key first.

Had a failure of the driveshaft, apparently same issue according to the dealer and BMW even though it is outside the recall dates. My car has been sitting at the dealer for over a month now and finally got told they had shipped a replacement from Germany. I have been driving loaners for 35 days now...

They got it done same day that the part came in and it was replaced with a CF shaft. The adhesive folks are talking about is just loctite for the bolts which they recommend allowing 24 hours to cure before caning the engine.

Other than having to adjust my aftermarket exhaust fitment the job was done well and car feels smoother than before when applying and lifting the throttle. Might be placebo effect or there may have already been an issue starting to take hold.

It looks like only M3s have parts available. Can anyone confirm? I asked my dealer to order parts for my M4 and it's been several weeks.

Have you checked VIN status on BMW recall site? My dealer wouldn't let me come in/order parts until it indicated a remedy was available for my specific VIN as they are staging the recall fix.

Mine says remedy available.

I actually contacted 2 dealers about this. First one said I had to bring my car in before the part is ordered and it wouldn't be safe for me to drive in the meantime. Second one said they will order it now and I can bring it in when it arrives. Glad I went with the second one since I don't want my car sitting in the back of their lot for who knows how long.

Yeah, I was told I had to bring in so computer could be read and part order authorized by BMW. Car was due for brake fluid change so got that done at same time. I still am driving it and seems the same as when I bought so I just waiting for them to call and tell me to bring car in.
