DCT 6th gear scraping noise

Hi all,

Was recently able to upgrade to the F8x platform finally. I’ve had the car for about 6 weeks. 2016 DCT F82.

I noticed while driving that shifting 5>6 the car consistently produces a scraping(?) noise, and the same sound sometimes from 6>7.

The car makes the same sound if I throw it into N from 1st and the car is still rolling.

I only now just hit 20k miles and I’m worried this may be a fault although everything is reading OK and no error messages show. Also checked for recalls nothing showing.

Any thoughts on this or has anyone experienced something similar? I haven’t seen anything posted about something similar. Appreciate the help!

*********EDIT********

Updates - finally got around to taking the car in for service. After about a day and half of sitting at the stealership the service advisor got back to me and mentioned that the tech has deemed the DCT as a failed unit. DCT will be replaced in its entirety under bmw warranty. The car only just now hit 20k miles so it was a bit of a shock to hear. Will update again soon once it’s understood as to what could have caused the possible failure.

Did check for rocks or debris stuck behind the brake dust shield but was to no avail. The sound seems to come from the dct.. has a distinct whirring(?) or scraping noise(?). Had the car dropped off to service this morning. Will report back for any future forum members that encounter a similar issue.
