Its most efficient to do as many lanes in a pass as you can. In my last year, 2002, our trucks could do up to four lanes.

Safest thing for cars would be to only spread one lane at a time. Of course that would mean you would need two to four times more time to cover the same lane-miles or you would need two to four times more trucks.

It's your taxes.

How do these cars hold up to rust vis a vis salty roads? I've wondered that-undercoating is pretty good and the wheel wells use plastic liners...

Does anyone have rust forming on their car?

Was driving all day yesterday and got hit a total of 3 times with a salt truck. One time I was parked in a plaza lot just in my car messing with my phone until I hear a sound that sounded like a bunch of pebbles thrown at my car, only to see a salt trucking go by me. The other 2 times the salt truck was on the other side of the road but the machine that sputters and sprays salt out from the back of their truck is so strong it just shoots feets away hitting my car on the side. Geezes christ...if the salt isn't bad enough already, I'm already paranoid if it caused any paint chips or dents on my car, haven't seen any yet. Oh well.
SOLUTION. Park car in garage during winter.

Friend was behind/beside a salt truck once, which spontaneously fired a boulder sized salty meteorite at his car. The boulder struck and cracked his headlight, split into two (a la Armageddon movie...) whereby the second chunk cracked his windshield!

Insurance wanted him to pay two deductibles for two separate incidents.
uh... Not.

Yeah, I live in MA. I think you can ovoid the trucks if you try. Yes, it's a pain, but just go extremely slow if they're ahead of you.

I bought an AWD car so I could drive it in the winter. Salt and sand come with the territory. Aside from the all season tires that I'm currently using, the car is great in the winter. Next year with snow tires, it should be much better.

I'm pretty sure that I'm going to get an m-sport front bumper this spring. I'm thinking that I'll keep my stock bumper and put it on for winters (just one more item to swap over when I do the wheels). That should save my new front bumper some wear...

I find that the bumper on this car takes much of the abuse which is surprising. I figured the hood would take more abuse from how low I am. I do have a clear bra though.

Bottom line is it's winter, prepare for it and take care to ovoid salt trucks and other hazards.

Bad advice, the warmer temps inside aid the salt, you're better off parking it outside where it's colder and wash it as soon as you can!

He meant park it and not driving it in the winter so salt doesn't get on it at all. Not what to do after driving in salt...
