heya,
I may need to try with some headphones, but I cannot hear any ticking noise that doesn't sound normal. IMO, these things sound like industrial sewing machines, and I too have chased what thought was a ticking. But by readin this forum and researching I am coonfident it is just a feature of my motor. Injectors, pumps, and all the things are loud on these things. I too have read about how different oils can affect valve and engine noise. Some being quieter than others. But that has also been vetted out and doesn't appear to be an issue or affect reliability. Lastly, the incorrectly torqued cam shaft was I thought an early car problem, less so in the late builds. I may be off on this. But I thought worth mentioning. FWIW, I just turned 90k with the above ticks I mentioned for the most part always present. With all that said, I don't fault you for following up with the dealer at least to make sure it isnt something truly wrong. Good luck, and I do hope it just normal S55 noise. josh Last edited by spidy512; 07-04-2022 at 06:38 PM.. |

Yeah these engines are a bit noisy especially if you're used to a quiet idling car. It's really hard to tell from the video if yours ticks louder than what most would consider normal. If I had to guess, I feel like yours might be a little louder than what I'm used to but again, hard to say from a video.
Do you know anyone in your area with the same car? Maybe try to meet someone in person and compare noise at idle? |
