2015 M3 No yellow or red tach lights ever
Hi guys,
The yellow and red lights that are on the tach do not appear on my car. There are no lights ever on my tach. I'm talking about the RPM limiter lights that adjust when warming up the car and the red line lights. Neither are present on my car. If I bring the rpms up to 7k, I also never get a shift indicator. It's like they are totally dead, or not an option on the car. Has anyone else had this issue? Thanks for any response. |

For me, they only light up when I drive the car very aggressively from a stand still. Have you tried turning everything sport+ and MDM mode then aggressively accelerating from a stand still?

Your cluster is either broken, modified, or aftermarket. No factory US F80 has km/h markings.

Never seen one like that. Maybe it has custom inserts since the stock ones aren’t flat where the numbers are.
The speedometer looks like it was cut by hand at the bottom. |

Yeah, looks like the two speedo/tachy face plates are overlays, evident by the slightly-off trapezoidal cuts along the bottom of both.
Also note how each of your gauge notches/cross-hatches are pointy triangles; the factory gauges are little flat rectangles: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/F...5539562%29.jpg As Keca said, the stock gauges aren't flat like yours. They're kind of triple-layered/indented. The overlay is probably not see-through where your shift lights are. Someone probably wanted KM/H markings and got custom overlays. |

The car is from Canada originally. That is why the KM is on the speedometer. It only has 15k on the car and nothing has been modified. I guess I will pull the instrument panel out and see if I can find something.

That's definitely not a gauge cluster from a Canadian car ... ours don't have MPH markings at all:
At the very least someone put in new faceplates (my guess is to add MPH markers to make it sellable in the US). You can see from your pictures that the new insert is covering the shift lights.

The instrument cluster is relatively easy to remove. Just one screw at the top of the hood. You'll need a short screwdriver and you'll have to move the wheel. Also make sure you disconnect the battery or you'll throw a code and potentially zap your gauges.

Unless you bought this car brand new and was the 1st and only owner, I don’t see how you can say this with any certainty.

Look at the pic of the Canadian/rest of world cluster. Looks nothing like yours.

WTF?
Someone made that instrument cluster at home. There is something not right there. Canadian cars only have KM. Looks like they tried to do some kind of custom thing |

The OP is too embarrassed to post here again knowing he got fucked. Probably bought a stolen car from somewhere else in the world and thought it was legit.

In hind sight, didn’t need to take a picture going 30 MPH. Stationary would of work.
