Tint

Can people post some sample photos of their car tinted and what the percentage is? The back is pretty dark so I’m not sure it’s a good idea to match that… looks like limo tint, hah… but for the sides and possibly the front, I was thinking 20-35% on the driver and passenger windows and maybe 50 on the front windshield. Primary goals are to protect the interior and prevent the car from getting too hot. Oh yeah, and it just looks killer!

If your back windows are already very dark, I would definitely do 20% on your front side windows. It won't look good if you do 30 or 35%. I did 35% on a car not too long ago and ended up redoing it at 20%. It just looks better and feels better to me.

I got it done in 2018 so this is from memory. I think this is 30% Spectra Photosync all around except windshield, which is something like 80%. Personally, I use tint to limit glare and help with heat. I am not a fan of dark tint, especially at night. Others are more interested in blocking views into the car or making a fashion statement, so it’s really personal preference / local laws and tolerance for getting pulled over.

I had the previous tint removed except the back glass (so no idea on the back) but all the sides are a 20 and windshield is a 50. I wouldn't mind a little darker in all honesty, but it's subtle enough to make it look almost oem

Very nice. Anyone know the % of the factory dark tinting in back?

Up in the air about whether I want to do the front windshield. I’d like to protect the interior and it might look kind of off if the front isn’t done and the sides are.

Would be nice to see a car with factory back and 20% up front to see how they blend.

This is what the back and rear windows look like from the factory. Getting quite a bit of light in the garage there.. could swear they appear darker in person.

Just remember most tint is just UV rejection unless you're getting a premium brand with heat rejection

True. It’s 150 for both the driver and passenger side .. supposed to be some ceramic infused tint. Based on the other pricing I’ve seen, I’m not sure it will offer heat rejection.

30% think it's a nice balance for day and night driving

Did you not have darker tint to begin with on the back?

Check your state laws regarding maximum tint level - here in NC it's 35%, whereas in TX (where I moved here from) it's 30% (significantly darker). This is 35%:

I went 35% ceramic all around. UV and heat resistant. Did Air80 on front windshield.

Pretty big difference. Wanted something to help with the summer heat, but not make night driving an issue. Heat rejection has been good as it's been 105 a few days and climbing.

I suspect the OP is in Europe if they had factory tint on their windows in the back. To match that factory tint, I would say 20% would be the closest match, while 30% will look obviously lighter in the front than the back windows.

Good thing is, tints like crystalline reject heat and UV even if you don't want to go dark. There are another few films that have even better heat/UV rejection I believe.

OP, one thing to keep in mind since your backs windows are already dark, whatever tint you choose for the front will look darker compared to having done the entire car with the lighter tint. With less light coming into the cab from the darker rear, expect your fronts to look darker too.
