Thinking about my next car
Half-way through this lease and loving it. Would love to be in a 911 when this lease is up, but still will likely need two actual, full sized back seats when the time comes, but we'll see.
Been thinking a G80 would be a simple upgrade. This lease matures around March 2021, so I'm sure getting into a G80 around Christmas 2020 as an early move up would be easy to justify in terms of simplicity and cost, even though it will still be very early in the G80's lifespan, and I'm sure they'll still be working the bugs out. That said, in spite of the fun factor, a bit more refinement would be nice. F90 Comp would be ideal, but not sure I need 600hp and a $1500-$2000 lease for a sedan (at that price point, I'd be looking at an RS6 or AMG wagon). Been thinking maybe an M550i with a tune would fit the bill, but this also lacks the "special" factor of an M car. It seems nice, and the price point is fine, but I know I will miss the M touches and tweaks. A number of reviews state that it's quick on the highway, but it doesn't really excite. I still think this car is a killer deal for the $, and I do love it, but I wonder if I get couldn't get into something a bit more comfortable, better tech, and a bit more refined that still retains the fun factor...plus the grilles on the upcoming G80, lol. Anyone else feel this way?

A new G80 right now is out of my budget. I'd have it same as my current 6 speed Sunroof Full leather I'd just be looking for a more refined ride. I'm happy with all the current performance specs |

If you really want a 911, get one and cheap lease a non M BMW
Don’t use the back seat as an excuse to pass on the sports car you want. Disclaimer: that’s the path I took post f80 and I previously daily drove a z4 for 3 years |

Panamera GTS or turbo. I went into a F80 after a 991.1 c2s. The 911 is better in everyway except daily practicality space wise and outright straight line speed. I daily drove the 911 for 4 seasons with winter tires for winter and got 80k miles on it before I sold it.

I had to chime in with the "special factor" comment. In the most non-douche way, driving an F80 and trying to step into something normal (even a M550 with a tune) will not last long. What makes me qualified to say this you ask?
I sold my F80 just under a year ago, already went through 2 "normal" cars, and here I am circling back to another F80. I was always under the impression that it was just a taboo saying but man was I wrong. My 2c, hold onto the F80 until the lease matures and enjoy your time with it...they truly are fantastic cars. Don't worry about the opinionated grilles on the G80 that change with the wind or fret over whats coming next until you're there. Sit back and enjoy the ride. |

Sticking it out with my F80 until close to the end of the GXX lifecycle. Let’s see what ticking time bomb the S58 has in store for us 5 years from now lol

E63 AMG Wagon is a serious car. Looks sleek, goes fast, and is very low-key for what it is. I don't need back seats, so I'm not in the market for one, but would love it if my wife would give up the stupid SUV for one.

Just IMHO, if you like Porsche you need to get a turbo or GT 911 at some point (and track it). Feeling that different weight distribution and advantages under braking and on corner exit are something you need to experience at least once older turbo with AWD and decent power is also very easily to daily. |

I'm torn like you pondering about my next car. Previous E92 M3 was a fantastic car. The F80 a bit more refined but a torque monster. Had a G20 as a loaner and was not impressed. If the G80 doesn't check out I will probably either buy out my F80 or go into a P-car. Nothing else is really exciting these days.

Let’s just summarize my deleted post with me saying “it’s not for me, and I prefer porsche with engine somewhere behind the driver shoulder” |
