This is a great resource thread in the event issues occur. One can reflect back to this thread to see if anybody had/has similar issues, and how they were rectified.

2015 with 27k miles. I picked it up in February with 24-25k I think.
so far I've had to fix the parking brake rattle (I had an inspection done at BMW and they missed this). So i had to pay to have it fixed after it was delivered to me from out of state for a few hundred. Last week i had the oil, diff fluid, and brake fluid changed. ~$400 which is not too bad. No rattles or leaks The worry about BMWs costing an arm and leg to own and maintain is overblown. It just depends on how you take care of it and what type of driving you do.

67k miles young as my daily driver. Normal maintenance. Only issue has been the secondary coolant section the furthest back under the hood. It seems to need to be refilled every 2 or 3 days and triggers a drivetrain alert when it needs to be refilled. So I keep a gallon of coolant with me at all times. No big deal.

5 years and 1 month old, 65k miles of daily driver use year round.
Nothing has ever gone wrong worth mentioning except MAYBE, MAYBE the fact the windshield wiper fluid pump stopped working probably from a clogged pump due to me using RainX....which apparently is algae friendly. Don't know whether to blame rainX or BMW for that honestly. Bottom line: Nothing's ever gone wrong that is clearly the cars fault Still on original brakes and rotors all the way around too.

Thank bro! If I end up keeping my F82 for the long haul (...a first me with my car commitment issues ), I can only hope to see that kind of mileage. My beater '03 C240 just hit 339,000 miles on the original motor and transmission.

-Leaking charge cooler replaced under warranty -Leaking coolant expansion tank replaced under warranty luckily, i caught both while fluids were still within normal levels, though at the bottom rungs of the yellow measurement plastic. still tbd whether i keep this thing after the original warranty runs out. i can't stand unreliable cars, but still in love with the f82 aesthetic. this is the only thing keeping me from spending more money on a 911.

When is the best time to check the coolant level, stone cold? I assume if you try opening it right after driving it is under pressure and will be dangerously hot and spray?
Sometimes I get the faintest smell of coolant or the slightest bit of steam out of my exhaust at what seems like odd times such as it's a hot summer day and/or the car has been running for a while. Makes me wonder if there is a leak? |
