Car is trash to drive in the city

I just moved from a suburb into deep downtown toronto.

So far i have taken out my M4 several times and it is hard to get this car operating like before, it is clunky, feels mechanical, 0 smoothness, all sort of weird noises etc.

Does anyone else have this problem? Any solutions? Even when i get the oil to operating temps, the diff, tranny and everything else feels like a bag of dicks.

My solution is to get a commuter. However, I drive in Sport mode, DCT set to level 2, suspension set to sport or comfort, steering to comfort and besides the fact that I'm low with a front lip and lots of camber, it's fine even in downtown LA. That being said, I much prefer my i3 in the city.

These are all part of the charm of F8X IMO - although I find it quite smooth when operated purposefully, but I appreciate that smooth to me may not be to someone else. That said, if your car is unreasonably jerky/clunky you may want to try resetting the adaptations if you will be doing a lot of city driving. FWIW when I take my F82 into Oakland or SF I swear I am straight up off-roading in places or about to break my car out of alignment... F8X is really not meant for broken city streets

Get the OEM 18's

Get Continental DWS 06

Tire pressure 29 psi

Butter!

I'm running 32 psi all 4

If the roads are that bad drop some psi

Despite the EPS and all sorts of modern shit. This is why I love it.

Your car is a clapper, dude. Told you before.

Argeed, stock suspension is too sporty for city driving, too soft for track driving. I didn't have a problem with the city driving, it wasn't too horrible but it definitely wasn't good. Track performance is straight doodoo. They paired the f8x's amazing chassis with a garbage dump suspension.

Every single EDC setting is stupid.

I have no problem to drive my 640hp DCT m4 with ttx on mostly 25-35 mph residential, park, and school from work back home 12 miles. Enjoy not passing 3k rpm for 4 years.

Same for stock m3cs. M3cs does has more rattle noises tho.

I'm slammed to the ground on springs with no adaptive suspension with a carbon front lip, running 20" OEM 666M wheels with maximum sized spacers with a Stage 1 tune. I live in Downtown Vancouver Canada and constantly encounter pot holes, speed bumps, traffic and shitty drivers.

Yet I still daily this M4 more than I drive my F30 which is for long boring drives.

I had an F16 X6 before the M4 for a few months after my E92 M3, boring floaty drives makes me hate driving.

Trash?

C’mon now. If we can deal with LA or Miami traffic, you’ll be fine.

These cars are not built for stop and go slow speed driving. I assume you have the DCT? Next gen g80 has a regular automatic which will be much less engaging but much more palatable in day to day driving.

I bent my first rim just over a week ago. I got it fixed but part of me wants to get a new rim just because I feel like the old one has bad karma now. The patchwork they did last month gave me false confidence to put my 666m back on. I wish I waited since all the shitty patchwork is already coming out.

To help with the herky jerky, I usually tap the gas pedal to let the car start rolling before adding more gas.

The noises...idk the car sounds fine to me? There's no excessive gear whine like on a Toyota/Lexus...sounds like there's a super charger on there. Drives me nuts.

Don't feel these issues myself. OP must be used to a Bently or something, or just doesn't know how to drive smoothly.

To me it definitely drives much smother in sequential mode regardless of efficient/sport settings, even when still letting it downshift itself. Driving my m4 in "D" IS doodoo.

I only drive it in sequential, it's still doodoo unless i have it in effecient comfort comfort but even then the dct, the diff, exhaust, etc are clunky, dingy, suspension is doodoo.

Just an observation if you don't wind out this car it's a bit weird to drive

Sounds like it’s time to go EV, or fight the urge to grab down in to that bag of dicks.

What ever the fuck that means in Canadian!

So you believe your car suddenly changed? The F80/82 is what it is. Newsflash: Toronto sucks not your car.

Having grown up in Somerset County, I don't remember the roads being quite as bad as out here in some parts of the Bay. The worst roads I've ever encountered in the US have to be in Oakland - both in design and condition. The conditions are undoubtedly harsher on the East Coast but the roads here are just straight up not maintained or fixed... like ever
