Racing brake fluid has a MOT dry of ~600 F. Pads with a MOT of 1472 F are fine for track. Your sustained brake temps shouldn’t be < 1000 F. If you’re running a sustained 1472 F at the pad then you’ll eventually boil the brake fluid.

There are race pads with MOT of 1000-1100 C but those are typically used on cars with high downforce and real race tires. 800C should be fine for a stock F8x with stock iron brakes (stock rotor is the critical component because it can’t pump sufficient air thru the vanes to keep rotor temps in check) on stock/street tires (>=200 TW).
Hi, Gloc r10 has an advertised max temp of 800c and I use that for the front brakes of my 115whp, 2450lb with driver spec Miata (along with motul 600 fluid)

It’s a good pad for a light momentum car like Miata

My Porsche is a street car with cup 2 tires and a bit more power and a bit less weight than stock f80, and 1000c max temp Gloc r12 is the recommended compound

I guess everyone uses brakes differently and goes to different track configs, so ymmv

I was thinking with a 800 max temp the Mx20 would be sufficient.

DS3.12 are legit, on 3rd set

Next time around, try the PFC11 compound. It's a more track-oriented pad that for whatever reason is quieter on the street than the PFC08

In my BBK-equipped cars I run the PFC11 all the time because the pads are very quiet. This way I have one less thing to do in a track day.

Sounds like the Endless MX72 are actually a good choice for street/track then?

Temp range of 0 - 700 C is quite impressive and more than the Ferodo DS2500 of 0 - 500.
Most pads that can handle such high temps are not advised as street friendly.

From searching on google I find mostly good impressions on various forums.

Seems like they're basically a better version of DS2500 with a higher max operating temp, less dust.
Pretty damn expensive though, but I guess the price is justified if they live up to the specs.

I did find one person complaining about them being noisy but most impressions said they were quiet.

Thinking I might order a set.

Not these specific pads but I have done a track pad up front PFC-08 and a high performance street pad in the rear (PFC Z-rated) in the past on another car. It worked fine. You could tell a difference but it was nothing huge and just fine for 8/10ths.

I could only get the DS3.12 for the AP racing BBK front, running DS1.11 in the stock rear Calipers

Really curious to see the caliper temps at a track like Laguna. Most of the tracks in SoCal are relatively easy on brakes as evidenced by the modest 166°C / 330°F on the rear caliper. And as expected, the front BBK run much cooler in spite of doing most of the work.

Agreed. Upgraded rotors and DS2500s on Pilot Super Sports have been a great combination with the tires overheating before the pads start fading. I have yet to see if the DS2500s would cope with RE71s or similar, but I suspect RE71s would push the DS2500s over the edge. Like others, I wish the DS2500s had a bit more bite, but they do work very well as a street pad.

I'm with the DS2500 guys, if you like your 1.11 you'll like them. Mine don't make any noise.

I've bedded them in properly and they certainly work great on the track but I live in a condo and am not able to change them out between track days without taking them to a decent shop which is very inconvenient and time consuming.
I'd appreciate suggestions on anyone who has had better luck with dual use pads, perhaps the DS 2500 or others?
So far, I've had my shop install Ground Control camber plates and will be mounting square 18" Apex EC-7's with Nitto NT01's when they arrive in the next week or so. (Tire recommendations are also appreciated!). Changing the wheels/tires for track days is easy as there's a decent Firestone shop close by, but I don't really trust them with the brake pad work.
Thanks a bunch.

Incredible for track use, I feel like I could've stopped on a penny if I had the skills..

I live in a high-rise building and honestly it's very easy to do a pad swap in the parking lot if your neighbors are okay with you taking up 2 parking spots for <2hrs. The time/effort it takes is very little compared to what shops will ask for, I was quoted $180 for all 4 pads swapped meaning it would've been $360 to swap before and after the track. Not worth it, it took me about 2hrs for my first time -- got it down to 1.5hrs this past weekend. I bought maybe $120 in equipment needed for the swap.
Do they handle the heat better than the OEM M3 pads?

I run the PFC11 all around with 200TW tires and I'm happy with their performance. I swap my pads out if I have long breaks between track days. Besides an occasion squeak at low speed they make no noise on the street when I do need to daily them. YMMV.

Updating this in case helpful - new PSS tires all the way around and half worn DS2500s = really bad pad deposits at Thunderhill. Bummer. Dropped in DS1.11s all the way around and am really liking the extra bite and feel....but they are sooooo loud on the street, and insanely loud in parking garages. They do quiet down some with a good bedding in, but with all the city driving I do that bedding layer disappears fast. Will be swapping DS2500s in for daily use and keeping the DS1.11s for track use. Did not want to have to deal with swapping pads, but there are worse things.

I’ve had ds2500 for over a year purely for DD and they are fine but they do lack that initial bite until warm.

My only complaint is the drone I get when braking from high speed.

I’m in Germany now so I need confidence in the brakes when tipping along at 185mph!

They stop the car but the droning sound is off putting.

I had the exact same on my e46 m3 years ago.

Anyone else experience this?
