I don't have the HUD, but we still have the shift lights over the tachometer in the instrument cluster. At the track, I never look down. I can see the shift lights in my peripheral vision and therefore precisely know when to shift (combined with the aural feedback from the engine).

Cool! I guess the HUD shift light (if you can see it) can be handy on track, but aural feedback is probably more useful. Anyways now I jacked your thread sorry ! But it's fun to learn all this for us noobs

I don't mind thread-jacking my own thread

Hahaha, I saw that one too but seriously where do you guys redline outside the track? I have never yet gotten even to 5k rpm and that car pulls like crazy... Ok I finally mustered some courage and gunned it in 1st, I am surprised that it's a short gear, but I got to see the shift lights for the first time

I'm glad I found this thread. I thought something was wrong with my car as the "optimum shift indicator" always wants me in 6th gear, usually when I am in 3rd or 4th gear. I can't imagine being in 6th gear at these speeds (40 mph, etc.) - seems like the engine would bog. Definitely going to turn this "feature" off...

Or maybe it is a feature not available in North-America...

Efficient? What's that?

I can't remember what mine did on the drive from NJ to TX when I got it - it was pretty good from memory. But round town in Austin, I get about 200 to 250 miles out of a tank - that's it.
