Am I to understand that Bimmerpost Admin has suspended pillpusher's account due to a percieved commercial angle to his thread!!?? If indeed true this seems very harsh and seems like a major over-reaction to me. The guy is providing a huge amount of free knowledge and wiling to provide essentially free advice/service to the community. Of course he can make some money in regards the cable IF you buy off him but this seems insignificant.

Wow! It really sucks to have pillpusher banned. He's been providing assistance to members here for free. I am not sure how much money he could make for selling the cables. With ebay and paypal fees, and cost of parts and labor, he barely makes minimum wage.

Mods, please reinstate pillpusher!

I don't know the exact circumstances (he simply mentioned it to me in the midst of sharing many relevant links to coding procedures) but would like to better understand. I suspect there were issues with linking to other commercial concerns perhaps but just a guess on my part. Can we be updated as to his status or rationale for dismissal?

Just confirmed my M4 Conv order and want badly to get my lights coded back to full functionality on arrival!!

I am struggling to understand how this is different to what pillpusher was offering - I'd actually argue that pillpusher's offerings had far less obvious commercial undertones and this individual by comparison is openly charging a lot more for services (don't mean in any way to disparage this example, might even ask for his assistance, simply confused as to why pillpusher's advice is considered inappropriate). As a disclaimer, I guess I should state that I do not have any association with pillpusher and was entirely unaware of him prior to reading this thread!

Anyone have any experience taking a 'recoded car' into the dealer for routine service? Do they flag the car or attempt to undo the changes?

The only issue I have encountered with service was on the X5 when they updated the software due to a recall and the coding reverted back to original and needed re-coding after the appointment.

The 1M has been coded for a few years and the dealer knows about it; it hasn't been an issue during service because it has never been flashed.

Thanks ... not sure if it will be permanent ... I have been asking the mods about commercial sponsorship, as I was banned for using the site for commercial purposes. They want a minimum of $50/month (I don't net $50/month selling the ENET cables I use to facilitate remote coding ... so that will not be happening) ... and at $50/month ... Unless they need to flash the car's firmware to fix an open campaign/recall ... or to install an accessory / fix something you are complaining about ... they should not have to re-code the car, which would set everything you coded in that module(s) back to default based on your VO.

It is very rare that this happens ... plus you can always tell them NOT to flash software to the car when you drop it off for service.

Just because you have changed FRM coding values ... doesn't mean they are going to actively look for changes and do anything about it.... it is usually a consequence of the above that causes you to lose coded changes.
