Yup. It can be done. I'm running 18X11 EC7 front also. But much lower offset.

Yes sir It is a fitment reserved for serious track/race cars, but with the right suspension, alignment settings and spacers up front, it can be a very effective square fitment.

With that said, a majority of our customers will likely go with the staggered 18x10" ET25 front / 18x11" ET44 rear fitment.

You are running our EC-7 18x11" ET25 on all four corners I presume? That is another aggressive fitment that can be done, however using the 11" ET25 means a much more aggressive rear fitment in comparison to the 11" ET44, and rear fender modifications would typically be required to prevent rubbing under load. Maybe you can comment a bit more on your fitment?

Strom Motorsports M4 Race Car
  • EC-7 18x11 ET25 Satin Black - Square Fitment
  • Yokohama Race Slicks
  • MCS Suspension
  • 5mm spacers up front to clear strut
  • Spring perch is above front tires for maximum clearance

Happy to dive into more detail. For most enthusiasts, our common 18x10" ET25 front, 18x11" ET44 rear staggered fitment is most effective for both street and track duty. Pair these with 275/35-18 tires up front and 305-35-18 tires in the rear respectively and you have a great bolt-on fitment. With that said, many of our clients are serious track nuts or compete W2W on some level. Not only are they looking to maximize grip, but they would like a square fitment for a well balanced chassis with the ability to rotate wheels and tires on all four corners.

In order rotate effectively, the wheel specifications needed to be cohesive from front to rear. This means that either the front or rear will need some level of "work" to properly fit an 11" square fitment.

18x11" ET44 Square
The 18x11" ET44 was specifically designed for the rear of the F8X chassis, so naturally this is a direct fit out back. When we install these up front however, thick spacers are required for proper strut clearance. Breizh Motorsport's (black M4 pictured above) chose to go this route, and installed 25mm spacers to clear their KW Competition suspension. Keep in mind, spacer thickness will depend on the front tire brand and suspension type, as not all are created equal. An 11" ET44 wheel paired with a 25mm spacer gives us an effective offset of ET19, so this ends up being quite an aggressive fitment on the outside/fender side and a healthy amount of negative camber will be required to bring the top of the tire in under the front fenders. Since you will (should) only find this type of fitment in the hands of racers, aggressive negative camber specs are par for the course and not a limiting factor.

18x11" ET25 Square
The 18x11" ET25 was specifically designed for the rear of the E9X M3, and in this scenario it is better suited for front end as the lower offset lends itself to more inner strut clearance. Naturally, this transfers the focus to the rear of the car, where the 18x11" ET25 is very aggressive (28mm more aggressive then the factory 19x10" ET40 rear wheels). In effort for these to work when the car is put through its paces on the race track, rear fender modifications will likely need to be performed in the form of "pulling/re-shaping" in combination with additional negative camber. Brett Strom from Strom Motorsports (white M4 pictured above) is well versed in this arena and no stranger to modifying factory fenders, therefore he chose to go this route. In some cases we have reports of customers using this square fitment with 305 tires without needing to modify the rear fenders, however adding -2 degrees or more of camber in the rear was still necessary.

In conclusion, neither 11" square fitments are considered "bolt-on fitments" and should be reserved for serious track/race cars. It is important to note that regardless of which offset you choose to use, compliant track oriented suspension equipped with linear springs and a spring perch location above the front tires will be required to maximize inner clearance to the strut.

Thanks, quick edit: 11 +44 with 25mm spacer yields +19.

I'm looking into moving my front perch up with shorter springs and helpers with the shortest compressed height I can find.

How much tire can fit with the 11 up front is another challenge

My F80 is not my Primary track car. My E92 M3 runs 18X11 et25 and 305 square. But for grins I tried moving the same setup on my F80 and fortunately for me they fit without any issues. Body is Stock. On Stock EDC and H&R Super Sports I ran that setup with no spacers. Since Switching to JRZ RS Pro's I had to run a 15mm spacer in front to clear the lower perch. Rear is same - no spacer. Front Camber is -3.5, Rear is -2. This setup does not rub on my car.

I believe these were with no spacers in front on Stock EDC and H&R SS springs.

Wow, love it.
So 18x11 +10 with a 305 fits with -3.5 camber using JRZ RS Pros. I have the JRZs, going to try to emulate this setup.

Is your car still at stock height with the BMW M Performance HAS or did you actually lower it? Also, I assume you have had no rubbing issues on the track yet?

This is great information, thank you for sharing. I am pretty surprised to hear that the 18x11" ET25 paired with 305/35-18 Pirelli Slicks do not rub the rear fenders under load, but that is very encouraging for enthusiasts looking to run 11" square. It is possible that the few who have also tackled this fitment were running compounds that run slightly wider, therefore had to tailor the rear fenders a bit in result.

Size is 305/645-18. So that's closer to a 305/30-18.
