Radio Buttons Cracking M4
BMW cheapness showing its ugly head. This car isn't even three years old, always garaged, and the #1 and 8 buttons are starting to crack. Anyone else running into this?

Never had an issue with this in any of my BMWs but I don't have extreme heat or subzero temperatures. Perhaps then I'm sure it wouldn't hold up.
You should be able to pickup those buttons (the whole button strip 1-8) cheap on eBay.

I live in socal where we don't see temperature extremes. This car lives in an underground garages where temperatures range from 60-80F year round and safe from sunlight. Im going with cheap materials on this one. Im gonna ask the dealer to replace them under warranty.

I had this happen a while back and it was covered under warranty. The panel of buttons are replaceable.

Did you have any luck with the dealer replacement?
The "1" button on my 2018 M3 has the same problem. I thought I had scratched it, or that the dealer scratched it during one of the service visits, but it is really in a difficult place to do that. Mine looks exactly like your first picture. I do live in South Florida, so this is likely heat related. |

My car is almost never outside and my garage doesnt get as hot as the car would get if left in the sun but my buttons need to be replaced for a second time. These buttons crack by regular use and since I had already had a set replaced, I was pretty gentle when using them...

I think its common because its super cheap quality. I live in Socal and this car is garaged 99.99 percent of the time and I live near the coast so no heat extremes. Now on my third panel due to this cheap, poorly designed unit.

I am getting this too on my 2019 BMW M4. Does anyone have the part number for the button panel? I'd rather do this myself than wasting my time and going to the dealership and being told "normal wear and tear" lol.

We get some serious heat here in Australia, and haven’t seen this on my previous 2015 F20 LCI or 2014 F82.
Panel is super easy to replace and common to heaps of F series models. Quote:
