i think if the f80 is your dream car and you really plan on keeping it its fine to spend whatever.

if its not your dream car then i'd think long and hard about every mod and how much its actually improving your ownership experience. and if its worth delaying your dream car goal.... is buying that 2500 dollar exhaust now better than paying off your car several months earlier so you can upgrade? Would you rather have an M3comp + 20k in mods, or a stock carrera s / AMG GT / GT4 ?

Damn. A few of ya'll are some ballers. After two years of ownership, here I am double triple contemplating spending $4K on new wheels while some of you have bought your car twice. Crazy lol.

My favorite story...

Me: "Hunny if you see a large package come in the mail while I'm at the office, I ordered some windshield wipers"

Little did she know, a beautiful M Performance CF rear diffuser was in that box.

You gotta play the game...

To answer the question , 5 months into owning the F80, I'm about $5k into mods. Mainly catching deals on gently used take offs from the member classifieds.

Zero $ for me too.

Targeted F80 for mod potential, but after 1.5 years of ownership still find my comp delivers all the performance I need and puts a smile on my face every time. This may be my first performance car that goes without mods.

Another $0.00 here. I don't understand the mod thing. I coded out seatbelts, and active sound, and some other stuff. I read about all the people doing mods and tunes and stuff and it sounds interesting. I also see that it could create headaches I don't want. To each their own. It's still a free country, so if mods and tunes are your thing, all the power to you.

$3.5k

But I've gotten about 5-6k of stuff into it, So I should be at least 5k in, I just paid 3.5k. I just buy things lightly used, on sale or have some luck.

For example, a 3M IR ceramic windshield tint is $200-250 maybe even more but I got it done for a hundred bucks because the guy owed me a favor from a while ago and just charged me for the wholesale price on the film.

I paid $750 for a set of $1100+ tires cause I got them during close out

Bought $250+ exhaust tips for 100 from a forum member

Bought a almost 1k lip for 400, from someone unused (got lucky with this one)

Don't really mind spending the extra money but I have a habit of checking classifieds before ordering something and usually end up finding what I need barely used.

Way way more then I should have, but I'm happy 😃

I'm right around 40 at the moment.

As I always do I spent more trying to save money. Example MP-HAS, then getting B16Ds but want MCS 3 ways.

It's probably a low estimate. I was too afraid to look up the actual costs. Haha. I'm on my 6th set of forged wheels and 7th or 8th set of tires just for this car. For what it's worth, I have sold half of the sets.

- BC Forged RZ05

- Signature Wheel SV104

- Advan GT Premium

- Some Crappy Wheels That Shall Remain Nameless

- BC Forged MLE52

- Signature Wheel SV601

And I forgot to add various studs/nut kits. That's an extra $900. Fack.
For sure but you're not keeping all off them right? So whatever you get back from selling them equate into the $24k.

No. This thread is just how much people spent... just to keep the numbers simple. It was in response to Kies Motorsport (F30 335i) and Obsessed Garage's (90's Civic Si) recent videos adding up their purchases.

But for the record, I've sold half the wheels on that list.

As I've gotten older, I've realised that it's better to buy mods that are easy to sell after, rather than going all out and doing things that aren't easily reversible.

I.e there will always be a market for OEM lips/splitters, aftermarket wheels etc. Things like tunes, downpipes (including labour etc) are hard to get anything back from.

Oh to answer the question, I'm it at 30k.

That is very true. Quality and OEM parts are easy to sell either separately or with the car.

$0

Mod dollars go to my 996 and ND. Frankly there’s a lot more to gain with those cars, dollar for dollar.
