Michelin Pilot Alpin 5?

I have been running Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4 on stock 437 rims during the winters. I cannot find the 275/35/19 size anywhere (its not even listed on Michelin's website), so I suspect this size has been discontinued. Looking to get one as a backup.

Alternatively, Michelin now has the Pilot Alpin 5 in the OEM 19" sizes. Does anyone have experience running these during the winter? Thanks.

Thanks! Are you able to compare the 5 to the PA4? I have been very impressed with the PA4--it has done great in crazy Chicago-area winters.

I still have two sets of pa4s, so I can directly compare. The 5 is also a superb winter tire. Like the 4, you don't feel like you're driving a penalty box.

Which do you prefer?

Both are fantastic. I would have continued buying pa4s until the end of time, but the pa5 works just as well

May I ask, where did you buy your Alpin 5 set? Tire Rack does not offer them in the correct 19” staggered sizes. Maybe they could special order them, I guess. Just wondering. Thanks.

I’ve moved to Germany and have to get winter tyres by October.

What are they like in normal conditions?

My main concern is that they are much worse in the rain compared to PS4s I currently have.

Cheers

I have been running Alpin PA4s in Chicago winters for 5 years now, and they have always performed very well in the rain, even freezing rain.

Good to know.

I’ve been after a set of 763m alloys for a year now.

I’ve found a set here and they will be wrapped in winter tyres which is a shame as the come with Cup 2!

These cars aren't awd, so you can flex the sizing to find the tire you want

I know, but I prefer to run the OEM sizes. Michelin makes the correct sizes (according to their website), so I imagine Tire Rack could special order them. They have done that for me in the past (in fact, I believe that’s how I bought my PA4 set). Thanks.
