Valves not opening properly

When clicking my M1/M2 buttons, my valves don’t open unless I blip the throttle.

Anyone else have this “issue” or know what I can do to fix it?

This is standard functionality - works this way on all of the F80's.

I’ve been in a few f80s where the valves open right when you click M buttons. Without blipping throttle.

Wonder if they're sticking? Mine open/close with the buttons without touching the gas.

Do you know what the cause would be?

I’m pretty sure I have that option on already.

Same here, on both my F80 and F30. Even before flashing bootmod3 it would do this, pretty sure it’s standard valve operations.

Same in my F82. Only in Sport or Sport mode would the valve open once I blip the throttle.

If you want a really loud start up, you can turn your car to “On” but not have your foot on the brake. Then press M1 or M2 (whichever one has Sport/Sport+ for engine, tap the gas and you’ll hear the valve open. Then start the car normally. It’s gonna be loud!

This is standard operation for the stock software, the valves will only open under certain load conditions and modes or through the service/testing modes. If you want full control you need a tune or valve controller.

You can code yours to always open on sport/sport+!

Easiest thing to do would be to download bimmerlink (www.bimmerlink.app) and buy one of the recommended OBD adapters (the nexus nexlink is one of the cheaper options on the list and is somewhere around $30). It allows you to open and control the valves whenever you want.

I use Bimmerlink too but the only problem is that the app doesn't have memory for exhaust valve position. So, every time you start your car, you have to open the app and open the valves.

The valves fully open with the app which is great. I think it's much better than buying a valve controller from dAhler for $500. Just my $0.02

You can also install a CG Precision VSC-2 to control the valves with a remote control from inside the car. You can even use a homelink button to control it using the VSC-2. I have a used one for sale if interested.

Standard functionality - need to blip the gas to open the valves, but not when you close the valves. I have BM3 set to valves open and same thing

On my 2016 M4 that was totalled the valves would immediately open when switching to sport/sport plus. This is with Bootmod3 stage 2 tune. The 2020 M4 I have now which has the same tune I notice the valves do not open until you blip the gas. Not sure why.

I was actually just watching a video on someone installing a steering wheel and the valves were instantly opening and closing via their M buttons without touching the gas pedal like I have to do on my DCT. The car on camera was 6MT and had BM3.

Were both your M4s the same transmission?

My 3 pedal requires touching the accelerator, BM3 tune as well. This makes me want to check the software again to see if there were any updates

2020 car has the MPE. The 2016 did not (doubt that matters)
