We've put together this latest set of renders of the 2015 M4 Coupe (F82) based on recent spy photos.

We started with a photo of the F82 M4 right outside of the BMW M testing center at the Nurburgring and began peeling away at the camouflage based on details which can be discerned from this particular prototype, other F82 M4 and F80 M3 mules, as well as our other imagination and speculation.

Here are some render highlights:

• Sportier and sleeker kidney grilles (as seen on previous F32 4 series coupe prototype).
• Sleeker headlights than sedan (which has been rumored and is expected).
• Similar front apron/bumper styling as the F80 M3 - with combined styling from the M6 and 1M (seen clearly in spy pics)
• Air curtain vents in front bumper (recently revealed)
• Hood bulge / bump (also spied)
• Widened fenders (as seen clearly on prototypes)
• Carbon fiber roof (expected)
• Sportier mirrors (expected to be revealed on concept M4/M3 or not until production version debut)
• Front fender crease (just our own imaginative touch)
• Rear bumper/diffuser in the style of M6 and 1M coupe (just our own imaginative touch)
• Carbon ceramic brakes (just our own imagination as well; no prototypes have yet to be spotted with ceramic brakes)

The F82 M4 coupe is expected to share the same powerplant as the F80 M3 sedan and to recap, here is an updated list of what we know about the F80/F82 so far:
  • Lighter than current M3
    • targeting E46 M3 weight (source)
  • More powerful than current M3
    • approximately same HP, but around 100 lb-ft more torque (in range of 395 lb-ft) (source)
  • Faster than current M3 (source)
  • More efficient than current M3 (source)
  • Powered by an inline 6 cylinder multi-turbo engine (source, source)
  • Offered with optional or standard manual transmission
  • Electric Power Steering (completely reworked for precision for M3/M4)
  • Tires (from prototype) - Michelin Pilot Super Sport: 255/35/19 (front), 275/35/19 (rear)
  • Front styling to feature elements from the M6 and 1M coupe, with Air Curtain technology (our render)
  • Hood to feature power/vent bump
  • M3 Introduced late 2013 - early 2014 (concept debuts earlier)
  • M4 Introduced no earlier than late 2014

Looks really nice, although the big question is how will the total package drive with the move from NA V8 to turbo I6 and a significant cut in mass. I did not realize the schedule takes it up to being a 2015 model.

Dimensionally it will still be the largest M3 ever.

less weight up-front, more power, driving dynamics being tested on the Nurb...

I would say with confidence that the total package will be a huge step up improvement... as rendered, it looks like a mini M6...
but then again, the rendered are based on a M6 ^^

car will be released early 2014, with press car available 4th quarter 2013. makes sense...

honestly, if the front end looks like this, the car is going to look like a steaming pile of poo.

can anyone tell me why the front end of the coupe is being rendered to look like the front end of the sedan?

when in the last 15 years has the front end of the coupe looked like the sedan?

the only time the two ever looked the same was when the E92 M front end "migrated" over to the E90 M front end.

people are just getting lazy...

DrivenbyE30: It's not based on a M6 spy pic. Look at the pic again that's the M4 prototype

Bunker: How is that the sedan front? The headlights and grilles and hood slope is all different.

Fugly. Way to busy in the front, even the new hood line chops up the sight lines. It's the left and right ducts that make it too messy for me.

Yep, you're correct.

I am certain (!) that the headlights will NOT connect to the kidneys the same way they do on the standard F30 sedan. They will still of course connect, but not in the same manner with that little tweak right before they touch the lower part of the kidney. I expect more connection at the top of the grill and then the lights will pull away as you get to the lower part of the grill. You can see this on the 328i hommage concept, as well as the same outline on the F10 LCI update.

Obviously with out the side vents and hood bulge ,should we expect the F32 4 series to look very similar to this with the M- Sport package?

The E36 was still around in that time frame, and both the coupe and sedan shared the same front end then.
