The stock EDC dampers are also different between Base model and the "sport" ZCP/CS. Again here, Base are street-comfort and the Sport more track-performance. Only difference between ZCP and CS is the "coding" for rebound and such. Base don't really take the CS or ZCP codes right (feels like Sport+ hard).

When you install a HAS kit, on the front dampers you need to remove the stock spring perches and replace with the height adjust sleeves. Usually this takes a hydraulic press to do install right, and it takes a skilled person to "press off" the KW sleeve. Better to leave the sleeves on the KW and sell the KW kit with sleeves attached to your old dampers. You should look on YouTube for "Tommy L HAS install" and watch his video. You'll see how it goes together.
Jimmy could you do the HAS kits with the Bilstein B6 dampeners? Is there any reason why you can't do that?

B6 with HAS doesn't work. Seems the HAS sleeves don't fit the Beilsteins right.

For your back I still suggest Base OEM dampers, those are the softest EDC units. Here's a great write up on base versus sport dampers. You see by the charts that ZCP/CS is similar to Base at low speed but more firm in compression & rebound at mid and high speed (shock motion speed, not vehicle speed).

Just a FYI there is a set of Base dampers available here for $500 but unknown age/miles:
https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1773472

Here's a set of almost new ZCP dampers for a grand. https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1532181

Just sayin...

Thanks Jimmy. Too bad on Bilsteins. That would have been worth a try. Maybe I'll go to the a EDC friendly coil someday. For now from everything I've seen the two best options are to go to MP HAS and leave my KW HAS, or just flash the CS and see how much difference it makes. Maybe I'll be happy w it. Seems like an awful amount of work and money to swap from KW to MP when maybe just getting a really nice set of coils is the right answer?

I feel a little uncertain after all the feedback, so I'm just gonna flash for now and see what I like. I've only put a couple thousand miles on the car, I barely know it. The only thing I know is that I think the rebounding needs help. There have been a few bumps that really made me cringe, when in reality after I thought about it, the car simply should have handled them better. I wanna fix that

If you’re going to go CS coding, try and get your hands on a set of Eibachs ( Euro V1 only)

Once you try this setup on the street you will see it’s a perfect daily.

All that adjustable coil over stuff just hasn’t worked on the street in this car. Save your time and money

Can anyone tell me the username or contact info for "Alex at Alpine" who does coding. I'd like to get a quote from him for the CS dampening. Thanks!

Check out my thread on updating to CS suspension. The ride quality is a significant improvement over the base and ZCP and you retain edc functionality. Cost should be minimal if you’re starting from a ZCP.

Here's how to find Alex, you see his cell phone number a few ticks down. He works west coast hours, just text him.

As others have said, texting him works wonders and he is rather responsive. The CS coding for my kw has (lowered about 2/3 of the adjustment) has worked wonders. Wife admired the compliance for a sports car. Keeping it street, doesn't get much better than that for me.

Awesome info, considering I am on a KW HAS, can't wait to give it a try! Based on some of his other capabilities, I may take advantage of those as well!

Did you have your car on a charger to do this. I know BM3 recommends a charger, but I never did it as I am on a lithium battery, I knew the BM3 install couldn't possibly ruin or go through that battery. Is the flash a longer install time, if so what charger do you have? I see some guys recommending different ones. Thanks in advance!

Good question, yes I had my tender in session also given I knew it would take a while, and a while it did. I do all my own basic coding via the stuff I purchased years ago (Carly) but wanted the diff, steering, mdm euro, suspension and anti dazzle coded. Took roughly 30 minutes so I would recommend having one hooked up.

As for which one I have, I would likely get flamed for sharing as it was a much less expensive option on amazon meant specifically for LI-IOn and it works just fine. Bought it 4 months ago and have been using it ever since. Cant go wrong with many of the options if they are designed for our batteries.

I went the the CTEK Lithium charger as it seems to be the one a lot of guys recommend, and apparently BMW uses as well.

Thank you for the recommendation! I did that through Alex at Alpine. Instantly better. So much better and you saved me a fortune!

Honestly not too concerned with opinions of folks LOL, just didn’t want to start the thread in a different direction. Figured it’s died down enough now
